I think its even odds that Bryz either A) goes back and plays for the coyotes or B) goes back and buys the coyotes

you should be able to get a quality split-time start for 3 mil this summer. if the flyers pay any more than that i will be beyond irritated.

With all this cap space what can go wrong? :)

So players get 1/3 of the salary remaining on the contract and none of their salary in the future counts towards the team's cap when bought out.

Does the player re-signing with another club change or alter that buyout amount? Or do they get that 1/3 regardless?

I think it is regardless of what team the bought out player ends up with. In this case, Snider is paying Bryz $23 million to just go away

Bryzgalov will end up making about $40-million for his two years for the Flyers.

Hahahah, on top of the world with $4.1M!

The Flyers roster needs it's own thread.

13 F*, 9D, 1G

*This includes Rinaldo, Rosehill, McGinn, and Akeson. So the Flyers would be relying on some of the youth to carry a big load again. This all in mind...there's a move beyond getting another goalie coming.

4.1 million with Pronger also counting against the cap, and I wouldnt be surprised the see one of Coburn or Meszaros moved at the draft. Even if we dont, we have something like this (Which includes a 5th forward line and 4th defensive pair):

FORWARDS
Scott Hartnell ($4.750m) / Claude Giroux ($3.750m) / Jakub Voracek ($4.250m)
Brayden Schenn ($3.110m) / Sean Couturier ($1.375m) / Wayne Simmonds ($3.975m)
Simon Gagne ($3.000m) / Scott Laughton ($1.107m) / Matt Read ($0.900m)
Tye McGinn ($0.775m) / Maxime Talbot ($1.750m) / Adam Hall ($1.250m)
Jay Rosehill ($0.675m) / Jason Akeson ($0.900m) / Zac Rinaldo ($0.750m)
DEFENSEMEN
Kimmo Timonen ($6.000m) / Luke Schenn ($3.600m)
Mark Streit ($5.250m) / Braydon Coburn ($4.500m)
Andrej Meszaros ($4.000m) / Nicklas Grossmann ($3.500m)
Bruno Gervais ($0.825m) / Erik Gustafsson ($1.500m)
GOALTENDERS
Steve Mason ($1.500m)
Tim Thomas ($3.500m)
OTHER
Buyout: Oskars Bartulis ($0.100m)

I just signed the first goalie I thought of, but I really wouldnt mind giving Thomas a shot.

Substitute Thomas with Emery, Greiss, Smith, or someone.

Oh and for those that would want Bryz as a teammate, how can you forget this classic:

2011 playoffs, Coyotes are down 3-0 in the series.

Bryzgalov arrives, some say late, to the game for game day skate/warmup with his bags packed and plane ticket bought to return to Russia that night, following the game.

1/3 if under 26yo
2/3 if 26 or older

Just did the math. At the end of it all, the Flyers will have paid Bryzgalov 36.8 mil for 52 wins. That's aprox $708,000/victory. #TSN
