That Hossa deal has looked dandy...but man in another year it won't. I could see them doing it next offseason. Get another year out of him on a decent cap hit, then say bye. BUT, he's been too good for them.

TSNBobMcKenzie: I am led to believe EDM will NOT buy out Horcoff but Belanger and Eager are buyout considerations for the Oilers.

Kevin Lowe: I know a thing or two about buyouts (and selling out, as in leaving the Oilers to join the Rangers)

I think they will try and move him rather than buy him out... I agree they will not buy him out this year regardless... but I do think they will try to trade him either during the season or next offseason (when the cap is expected to go back up).. he doesn't have a no trade/movement clause... and some team trying to stay near the cap floor will be the buyers... IMO... hopefully he likes the heat...

That could make things interesting for someone. If it happens, with that kinda cash in his pocket, Vinny can afford to go play wherever he wants for a significantly reduced salary.

He's not worth the absurd salary that his contract calls for, but could still be a hell of a contributor at the right price.

i dont remember where i saw this, but i think i saw he's been scoring at a .88 ppg pace for the past few years.. that's still very productive.

Which is exactly why he would have all the leverage. He won't need to try to cash in if they buy him out, so he'll be able to choose his destination.

Wanna play in Chicago but they can only afford $2.5M per year? Sure. Detroit for $3M? Sure.

Exactly. So...where do we think he'd WANT to play/who needs a center? Obviously MTL is a destination I'd see. Maybe Vancouver because of Torts.
