Your retarted
I said prior to the start of the season that we might only go as far as our pen will take us, being that this was the strength of our team's pitching. If we're to make it to the postseason, we'd likely need to rely on the pen playing a huge role. It certainly didn't look that way in our opening series against the Twins, where a number of them got rocked. But since then, with only one exception, the pen has not given up any runs.
They actually pitched 20 consecutive scoreless innings spanning 5 games before that one less-than-great outing, where they were scored upon 5 times over 6 innings in the 11-5 win against the Royals. 3 of those came in just 2/3 of an inning when Frye got slammed. In all, since the Twin series, the pen has posted a 1.61 ERA. Them's winning numbers.
I remember being a little miffed when MLB.com listed the top 10 BPs in the game and ours wasn't one of them. I thought they deserved a little street cred and belonged in that upper tier. It sure didn't appear to be so during the Minny series, but since then, I think they're performing to expectations, perhaps even exceeding them.
