I guess its down to 8 million left since they felt the need to resign Travis Homer for 2 million dollars. I guess Ian Wheeler will not even get a shot to show where he was headed last preseason.
I thought Wheeler was killing it last summer and had a great chance to make the roster until he suffered that horrific injury. He may not have fully recovered, which likely explains bringing Homer back. Not to mention Homer was an excellent contributor on STs.

Here's the original Top 100 Free Agent list from CBS Sports, updated to show who has signed and who's still available:

The most surprising thing when reviewing this is how many of the unsigned players are OL. You'd think that the unit which should be amongst the most in demand is the one protecting the QB.

Happy with this re-sign. Kramer provides IOL depth, versatility, and familiarity, including center. And except for that disastrous fumble against the Commanders, he's even provided a decent fill-in as a FB blocker in the run game. Glad he's back.

I made a crack about him being our special weapon on the goal line like Detroit had with Skipper last year. He made huge strides forcing the bears to keep him active last year after the shared practices with the Bengals would have had him poached, maybe by the Bengals. I dont know what his role might be in the future, but we all know we are one or two injuries away from being right back in last years boat.

He was killing it. I read a headline about bad news about Jeanty, did not get into it, whether it was the news that the Raiders are all in on him with the 6th pick or something else, but I really need to see us getting some production out of our picks or our draft free agents and that only happens if they stay on the roster. I really dont want to see starters on special teams anymore.

We git ourselves a kr......

another spot that should be filled by a draft pick already on our roster. I guess we see what the deal is and if he makes the roster. What should we be down to now, 5 million left?

I think this is a good signing. I'm sure it has little impact on our cap issue, at least it doesn't in the financial scheme of things. In the meantime, assuming he clears medical, we get a fast two time Pro Bowler KR/PR who in entering his age 28 season is still very much in his prime. He can also serve as our 4th or 5th receiver, depending on whether or not Tyler Scott sticks with the team and beats him out. What this also accomplishes is it now frees up a draft spot to go after other areas of need.

I guess I just see absolutely no confidence in the choices. Its one thing to get someone of need like the o linemen, but pretty sure a guy like this would be available after you see what you get at the draft.

Latest thing I read was not being sure Stevenson fits in an Allen defense, needing all press man to man cornerbacks and 10 could be used on Will Johnson? Then they say that when Stevenson was in press man he gave up a 75 QBR, which is pretty good, right All I can think of are the big blown coverages Stevenson has made has been losing someone in zone, or that hail mary, also considered zone.

I did like one article about Swift being one and done here, with only like a 600-700k dead cap hit and BJ talking him up was trying to get a better draft pick for him. Its not the worst case to have swift here, but 8 million is stiff to only use on third down.

I'm going with, The Bears take a Running Back for 1,000 Alex, as your take. To your point, I understand the RB class is particularly deep this year so who knows.

I do believe this myself.......

I think they set theirselves up on the oline in freeagency to draft a top rb.....if Jeanty falls to 10,hes our man,if not then one of our 2nds become the rb pick.
And I have no idea who the first pick will be if AJ is gone.....Im assuming trenches.

All things being equal, I am hoping for a trade down.

The big Q is, if Jeanty is gone by the time the Bears are on the clock, do you think Poles would take Omarion Hampton in his place? He has been skyrocketing up the boards the past month or so and is now considered a 1st round lock. But 10 may be considered a bit high nonetheless. Otherwise, it does seem as if someone in the trenches would be the obvious choice.

Triple ditto here amigo!

The way i'm hearing it, there are just a handful of "Blue Chip" players. If one is available at 10, grab em. With 2 picks in the second, go need. But grab a day 1 starter with upside if available.

According to spotrac, the Bears have nearly $14m of cap space. ($13.8) That puts them 16th in the league.

Six teams are in negative cap trouble and 2 more with less than half a mill of room. I believe teams have until April 28 (which is when franchise tags are set) to be compliant with the new cap balance.

Living in “Commanders’ land” here… Zaccheus is your quintessential 3/4 WR… As long as we didn’t spend too much, he’s a good role playing addition. A 30 catch 300-400 yard guy.
Each time Zaccheus has gotten a chance, I feel like he's shined with really solid games.

If he's our 3rd guy/slot receiver? I am cool with that.

If Jeanty is really what we desire. Then, I have a feeling we'll simply trade down if we cannot land him.

I hate the idea of drafting a RB #10... but... Jeanty is one of the few prospects over the past decade that wouldn't (totally) piss me off. It would be hard not to get a little excited by it.

I'm still happy we beat GB, but if you're someone whose in love with Jeanty to the Bears? Maybe you're beginning to wish they didn't?

FYI:

Goodbye Tevin, we hardly knew ye.
Part of me still wonders what might have been. Always going one on one at tackle compared to double teams and pulling at guard. I have a feeling he is going to end up like who was it, Marc Columbo who became a pro bowl tackle with Dallas after he left.

He was one mean dude with the attitude you want from an o lineman. Wish him well.
