I'm hearing good things about Kyle Monangai RB. Top 8 RB who's stock dropped because his college team never passed the ball to Running Backs. No catch tape dropped him. But as a runner he is top 10 in the draft, perhaps even top 7. This according to a Rookie draft analytics guy on Fantasy Football as well as last night he was also on the TTL program giving his assessments of the Bears draft to that point. He felt that thus guy can push Swift, hus words not mine. Particularly good between the tackles.

Edit: He also said Burden was his top Wr in this draft, but felt Golden was right with him. Bears got a "stud" comparable to Odunze but in a different kind of way. Gave Odunze and this kid similar rankings as he compared last years to this years.. He expects big things out of this Bear Offense given the talent now accumulated on the skill side of the offensive roster.

So brief statement: It isn’t that I don’t think Loveland or Burden III are potentially really good players. It’s that the lesson this team learned last season was that, without strong lines on BOTH sides of the ball, we can’t compete. We brought in O Linemen via free agency, but at least one has a bit of an injury history, and Braxton Jones, who we are apparently also counting on to be a starter also has an injury history.

Our D Line ALSO was suspect last year and we got gashed time and time again.

I don’t feel we learned our lesson from last season regarding O Linemen injuries, and I guess are hoping the vets we brought in on D are the solution there (Possible).

I’d have felt better shoring up those areas BEFORE playing PlayStation football and focusing on more offensive gadget guys. We’ll see.

Well, our DLine without any injuries was pretty darn good last year. When Billings went down, it started to suck.

The significant loss was DeMarcus Walker.

We gained Grady Jarrett, Dayo Odeyingbo, and Shemar Turner (who can probably take over Walkers do-it-all role right away).

On the offensive line we started out with

Jones-Jenkins-Shelton/Bates-Davis-Wright

This year we start out with

Jones-Thuney-Dalman-Jackson-Wright

I also think the depth this year is a lot better.

I think we improved depth vastly on the DLine, which was required. We also got some very talented olinemen with some rookies thrown in.

The draft could have gone better, but Burden might be our best receiver some day. Loveland could be the best te in the league some day. It seems like a log jam for targets, but that will just make the offense more beautiful if Caleb can spread it around. I’m excited for this year.

Just got kinda rough yesterday that Loveland is still 3 months away from contact drills. Apparently he can run and catch balls, but what team in their right mind is going to risk anything with this knee injury sure seems pretty serious. Lots of questions on surgery timeline. Dont think Warren is coming in with a knee injury, so another weight on the scale when they were betweeen those 2.

So right now he will be behind, still no word where Jones will be, guessing we see what happens mini camp if Wright is getting time on the left side or if its all Kiran. I think Burden dropped because some say he has too much diva in him. Guess it was not enough to drop to 144. I am guessing whoever was listening to trade ups needed next years first rounder. A team prepping to make the playoffs should not be worried about giving up the 20 something pick next year.

My new conspiracy theory is that justa is an outdated ai bot that they forgot to turn off and is running off some Windows XP server in a dead guy’s basement.

The Bears probably shouldn't have hired an offensive minded coach then. I'm guessing his first priority after F/A signings was talent to match his system. His first two picks say to me, in order for my system to work it need my LaPorta and I need my St. Brown going forward. What he could not get was his Gibb's... Yet.

This is a process, not fixed in one year. But I do fully believe this team is better set up for this season coming up. Coaching should be better, system should be better, o line should be better, d line should be better, etc...

Lots of "should" in that sentence. Proof will be starting in September.

I agree with what @NCChiFan says here. While I still would have preferred a little more action on the trenches with our early picks, we have to remember that unlike the previous HC, who I guess had little say in who the Bears drafted, Johnson had his hands all over these, especially 10 & 39. We were all thrilled with his hiring - honestly I can't think of a Bears fan who wanted anyone else as the new HC - so this is what you get with such a hire. He wanted weapons and he got them.

Wanted Vrabel. Vrabel drafted the best tackle to protect Maye. Also got the best center in the draft. Still want Vrabel after what I’ve seen. Time will tell. This franchise has chosen theory over reality, potential over results with nothing to show for too long now.

Campbell was taken with the 4th pick, long before we were on the board, so I trust you don't think we had a shot at him. And the top 3 OL were taken before we were on the clock. Oh, and since when did you want a center to be drafted by the Bears once we inked Dalman. Please show me that post so I can say sorry, I had no idea you were big on us drafting a center.

Don’t care about the semantics…Care about the approach.
