Here is the Bears final draft order after the comp picks were handed out:

  • 1st round, 10th overall
  • 2nd round, 7th pick, 39th overall (from the Carolina Panthers)
  • 2nd round, 9th pick, 41st overall
  • 3rd round, 8th pick, 72nd overall
  • 5th round, 10th pick, 148th overall
  • 7th round, 17th pick, 233rd overall (from the Cincinnati Bengals)
  • 7th round, 24th pick, 240th overall (from the Minnesota Vikings through the Cleveland Browns)
I'm really only counting on the first 3 rounds for draftees to have a serious shot at making the roster. Maybe the 5th as well, but those two 7ths are coming from the hinterlands. I see Poles doing some trading with a few of these picks.

There's at least a decent shot he trades the 1st rounder to either move up a grab a guy when he gets nervous someone else will take him or to move back and pick up an extra couple picks.

I think there is a high chance of him trading on of the 2s to move back and gain extra picks.

After that 3rd pick is done there isn't really a chance to trade back into the 4th round unless you use future picks.

Anyone know anything about this guy:

He looks to have power, balance and some speed......
All you hear is about Jeanty, but thus kid looks to be the real thing.......not sure where he dtands in the pecking order, but if he could be had in the early 2nd,might be a good pick while we get a top deflineman at 1......

Tyler Warren te from Penn St with our no.1 pick......??

Never heard of him and highly doubt he will have the same upside as Bowers.......
I do not see this happening.
I've noticed several videos and websites of late where they have the Bears taking Warren with our 10th pick. I've never paid it much mind, but remember we're talking Poles here, so who knows.

I think I heard that using our third round pick on him would be a reach. I doubt we use a second on him.

I wouldn’t mind the move. Warren is a prospect very similar to bowers.

I have supported Poles on this board, primarily because i believe he did the best he could ALONE. (Does anyone truly believe that Eberflus was any help in the draft room?) The difference this year is he will have Johnson helping him.

But does Johnson support a two TE set up where both of them are involved in pass receptions? I had to look up the Lions roster to even see which TE besides Sam LaPorta is on the team. They are Brock Wright and Shane Zylstra who combined last season for a whopping 14 catches/122 yards. So I don't see Johnson pushing for Tyler Warren, unless the Bears have plans of ditching Kmet.

Thats some nice research LSD.
I suppose i should have prefaced my comments by saying i NEVER put any stock into mock drafts. Drafting a TE is one of many sceanrios i dont see happening unless they trade Kmet. And i dont see that either.

So here's my initial still-too-early 3 round draft. I'll be coming up with alternates, being I'll have players at other positions representing the 10th pick. There's no single position that's a must have, so I'll spread it out to cover various scenarios. None of these mocks will involve any trades because last I checked, I'm still missing my crystal ball. Naturally, all this will be subject to change as the draft approaches.

10. Josh Simmons OT, Ohio State
39. Kenneth Grant, DT, Michigan
41. Quinshon Judkins, RB, Ohio State
72. Jordon Burch, DE/Edge, Oregon

Simmons immediately becomes my most controversial pick and will likely remain so for all my mocks. We still don't know his health status and may not until he goes thru a detailed physical. But at least on paper he has the highest ceiling of all the OTs in this draft. It may also help that assuming Braxton Jones still holds down the fort at LT, Simmons can be eased in and be ready to take over in '26. There's a good chance Grant will already be off the board by 39. If so, I'd like to see Tyleik Williams (yes, another Buckeye) in his place.

So here's the still-too-early mock #2. In this one the DE/Edge gets the nod for our first pick.

10. James Pearce, Jr, Edge, Tennessee
39. Aireontae Ersery, OT, Minnesota
41. Kaleb Johnson, RB, Iowa
72. Jonah Savaiinaea, OT/G, Arizona

Pearce might rival Josh Simmons as my most controversial pick, as he does not fit the main criteria for a Dennis Allen edge, which is size & bulk. Altho 6'5, he's a rather thin 245 lbs. But the man is greased lightening, having run the 40 in 4.47 and the 10 at 1.56 at the combine. I'm thinking of him and Dayo as our Lions RB version of thunder and lightning. He can come in on must pass situations, plus he can spend additional time on STs. If we want our edge to be more conventional in size, then Georgia's Mykel Williams is my choice. I doubled up on the OL, continuing to fortify this unit. I'd still take Quinshon Judkins if he's on the board at 41, but if not, Kaleb Johnson would more than suffice.

Here's the all trenches addition. Chances are Poles won't use every one of his first 4 picks on just the two lines, but we can't rule this out either.

10. Walter Nolen, DT, Ole Miss.
39. Wyatt Milium, OL, West Virginia
41. Landon Jackson, DE/Edge, Arkansas
72. Ozzy Trapilo, OT, Boston College

I seem to love using the 10th pick with a controversial selection. Actually, the only controversial aspect to this is it's a bit of a reach for Nolen at 10. He has been skyrocketing up the boards and is now considered the clear #2 DT and a 1st rounder in the draft. Obviously if Mason Graham were to fall to us at 10, he'd be the no brainer choice. But this is unlikely, so if Poles feels the DT spot is in need of an early pick, then Nolen is the guy. Milium offers versatility. He's mostly played LT, but the guard spot is considered a better fit. Jackson is a tough and very fast DE/Edge who pretty much fills the Dennis Allen requirements. Trapilo's main strength is pass protection and while mainly playing RT, he's projected as a swing tackle.

Time for the mock where my top want is stated.

10. Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State
39. Marcus Mbow, OL, Purdue
41. Darius Alexander, DT, Toledo
72. Xavier Watts, S, Notre Dame

Still not expecting Ashton to be there at 10, but if he is, pounce baby pounce. The consensus #2 RB in this draft is North Carolina's Omarion Hampton. Might be another situation where the 10th pick is a bit early for him, but he has been racing up the boards of late. If he's chosen, it's proof that Poles & Johnson really want to upgrade the running game. Mbow and Alexander are two more talented examples at their respective positions who hopefully will be there when we're on the clock. Watts would make for a smart pick with good size who could play either safety spot, is fast, instinctive, and quite the ball hawk.
