That's unclear, especially if the student bodies as a whole do not physically return. Many players come from poor communities which either do not care nor can afford to take many precautions. There will be tons of grouping in these communities, and poorer households typically have more people living in each house closely grouped. On an isolated campus with medical care and guidance, it's far more likely things like social distancing, mask use, and early detection could be performed. Players could have separate dorms, with isolation and daily checkups.

They also get paid a shit ton of money for doing so as well.

I don't think this is the right place to debate what college athletes should or shouldn't receive but right now it's nothing compared to what professional athletes get so you really can't compare the two.
