So my realistic picks in order are:

Exum No chance he makes it to the Lakers but he is my first choice
Embiid He is just too good to pass up on even with his foot. He might be the next Hakeem.
Smart Floor general and someone to set up everyone. He is the type of player who will draw lots of fouls and get to the rim at ease. He can make his own shot.
Vonleh A double double machine with defense but needs to add weight and a better outside shot.
Randle A forward who is a double double machine, but has foot problem and poor defense.
Gordon Blake Griffin 2.0 with more skill.

Is he worth 12-15 mil a year tho?
NO way NO how, I don't wanna be on the hook for that contract. Klay is a great shooter, good defender...but he is not a game changing star. He's a good piece to have on a team that's looking to contend. He'll get paid around that much because teams are gonna drive up the price bidding on him...but he's not worth it

I agree is he not all that. We need a game changing star for that amount.

IF it were to happen and that's a big and unlikely if, what about a lineup that looks a little like this (depending on who they re-sign of course)?

C - Hill/Sacre

PF - Pau/Kelly

SF - Kobe/Xavier

SG - Thompson/Swaggy P

PG - Farmar/Marshall/Whatever's left of Nash

Fill out the roster with whomever the Lakers get in the draft and some other veteran FA's or young FA's from last year like Bazemore, Wes Johnson, etc. If Nash can be convinced to just retire, may be bring Steve Blake back too.

Maybe not a contender, but they'd be fun to watch and would probably be a playoff team.

Interesting article:

Klay Thompson Trade Would Be Win-Win for LA Lakers and Golden State Warriors | Bleacher Report

It's better than what we got, and with Klay + Kobe we can make a semi-decent case to free agents. Kobe + unproven rookie doesn't sound as good. Heard the GS deal for Love is dead though so it may be a moot point.

There's not that much out there to get too selective with I think.

Exum is my guy too. Kinda sad he won't be on the team.

Otherwise I don't want Embiid. Been only playing for 3 years and already has back and foot issues? Too much of a risk for me.

Gordon would be my guy. Love everything about his attitude and game. Once he figures out a 15-18 foot shot he'll be an all-star IMO.

I wouldn't mind Smart but don't think he's a PG. Would rather have Randle. Seems like more of a sure thing even with the foot issue.

I hope to go the Lakers don't draft Vonleh. Seems like a bust to me.

The Sixers have reiterated that despite Embiid's present medical problems, they are still interested in him at 3. Chalk that one up to dealing with Andrew Bynum I presume. If that is true then Exum may fall. The more likely scenario is we trade the pick with this GS-Minnesota rumblings going on for Clay Thompson in the Kevin Love trade bonanza.

I'm hoping the Sixers don't take Embiid or Exum. That way the Magic take Embiid and that should clear a path for the Lakers to take Exum.

We don't really have a shot at Exum....I think their gonna do everything in their power to trade Nash and that pick away. Thursday can't get here soon enough

The only way that I see Exum falling to the Lakers is if his agent tells teams 1-6 not to waste their pick. However, even if does that, I'd say it's 50/50 that one of those teams will call his bluff.

It'll definitely make Thursday night interesting. Speaking of interesting TJF12, I find the Lebron opting out and the immediate firestorm over on the Heat pages rather interesting. Heat fans are in an uproar. Again, it'll be interesting to see what all transpires over the next couple of weeks and further into the summer.

So is it possible to trade the #7 pick to the Sixers for MCW/Young, sign Melo and re-sign Pau?

MCW/Kobe/Young/Melo/Pau? Defensively blah but nice starting five still.

I'll have to check that out. I do like seeing Heat fans with their "jimmies rustled". They've been a little tame on the general board.

I'd like to see the Lakers somehow land Lebron just because of the meltdown that Heat fans and certain Lebroniacs would have.

Jim Doors hasn't shown up yet LALakersboy but I am sure it won't be long. TJF12, I suspect you and CL67 would get a kick out of Lebron opting out but I think you both would be smiling up a storm if he did indeed sign with the Lakers.

Asche still needs to get a little bit quicker on that tweener ground ball that seems to elude him.

Frickin' Utely drops the ball. The infield fly rule is invoked but the runner scores.

Buchanan is in trouble. Its only the second inning and his pitch count is in the 30's. We are simply imploding here. BAses loaded again on the walk.

They got out of that jam with just a run but what a cluster job that inning almost was.
