They're getting SEC level talent and Bill Snyder with his team chock full of JUCO kids still torch them every year.

Your only possible argument for Mack Brown not being a complete disgrace would be that Texas HS players are overrated as fuck, because UT has been a top 5 ranked recruiting school year in and year out.

Actually they are both in limited company. Coaches with min 5 yr experience with negative "coaching effect":

1. Mack -3.40
2. Richt -1.40
3. Ferencz -1.00
4. Stoops -.80
5. Beamer -.20
5. Pinkel -.20

that is entire list. There are just 6 names. On the positive side:
1. Fitzgerald +3.4
2. Grobe +2.40
2. Patterson +2.4
4. Wittingham +1.8
5. Riley +1.6
5. Paul Johnson +1.6
7. D'Antonio +1.2
7. Gundy +1.2
9. Cutcliffe +.40
9. Spurrier +.40
11. Saban +.20

Interesting list. (Synder at +5.25, but just 4 yrs)

Grobe is living off of the 1 season Wake was good. Paul Johnson, I don't know what numbers they were using but there must be some mistake.

Texas HS players are the reason Nebraska is now a has been program. After stepping out of the Big 8 and finally getting competition outside of Norman, the Huskers downfall began in the inaugural Big 12 title game, as an unranked Texas team clownstomped #3 NU, preventing the Huskers from playing for their 3rd NC in a row. As the years went by, the other former Big 8 members who were awful for decades in the Big 8, were finally recruiting on par with NU, as they were raiding the Lone Star State for recruits. Next thing you know, scrubs like KU were dropping 70 + pts on the pinkshirt defenses at NU. You should know better than call Texas HS recruits overrated. Your daddy in Austin is still the only BCS title champ whose starters were all from one state.

I didn't call them overrated. I said that would be the only excuse you could make.

This one's not so quick on the uptake. :L

I am not a huge fan of Mack Brown, I think we could do better, but I also remember what it was like in the years right before Mack took control. Texas under Mackovick and McWilliams was 72-54-2, Under Mack they went 150-43. Mack was a master recruiter, still is but his coaching days have long been gone. He acts more like the CEO coach and relies too much on his coordinators. The problem Texas has is that the people they hire for coordinators are just using Texas to get a quick jump into head coaching, there is no stability. Normally when this happens the Head Coach can step in and start coaching the team, but Mack I believe let dust build up on his playbook for way too long and this is why we have struggled so much. But to say he is one of the top 5 worst coaches in college football is wrong. People assume recruits just flock here, but if that was the case then explain 87-97 for Texas? Mack made recruits flock here and still does, he also laid the framework for whoever replaces him to make an easy transition, unlike his predecessors. Just my two cents here.

2 coaches? I had to look this up, I'll be damned, never seen it that way. But then again the BCS era is relatively young compared to I think the overall picture of what Texas football has done in general of the long history of CFB. Bottom line, in many opinions, Texas has so much right there on their plate, they should be a perennial contender for the NC.

Mamba, dumbass posters like Corn Hole fans seem to think CFB began in 2010, that's all. It's tough to be a perennial power every year, it just is. Every powerhouse has suffered. Bama suffered for 17 years before Saban turned it around, Miami has gone down the drain, USC is hurting, Florida State has joined Miami, but at least the Seminoles have won a couple of ACC titles and have won a BCS bowl lately, but FSU is nothing like they were back in the day. Mack Brown has had 1 losing season in 16 years. I think he can be forgiven for having a couple of seasons that aren't up to Texas's expectations.

Weak troll is weak.

Bo Pelini is middle of the pack at the very worst.

Mack Brown has done so little with so much at Texas it's mind blowing.

If Bo was getting the kind of talent Mack was getting, we'd have 3 national titles under him by now.

actually his coaching effect is 0. He is completely useless according to the College Matrix numebrs

Shall I post the total number of points Texas allowed in 2012 as opposed to how many Nebraska did?

Dude, NU plays in one of the worst offensive conferences in the country. If NU was in the Big 12 still, your defense would have been raped more than twice last year. If tOSU and Wiscy can drop 60 + pts on you, imagine what the Big 12 offenses would have done.

Your interpretation of the scale is amusing.

remember this simply measures wins vs recruiting ranks. If you have a 4 yr average of 1 and lose to a team that has 4yr ave of 2 it is -1. It is positive 1 if you coach for a team with a ave rank of 80 and beat a team with a 70 4 yr average. So you can go 6-6 and get a solid ranking.

Incorrect. We would have done much better.

Nebraska gave up almost all its yardage and points on the ground. They were the number 1 passing defense in the country last year.
