did you see that trade scenario with Toronto where they get Gallo, Gibson and Kennedy and we get Biggio IF/OF, Grishuk OF, Otto Lopez IF/Of, Kloffenstein RHP. Sem Robberse RHP & Elvis Luciano RHP?

would you do it?

Looking at those players, that's definitely a case of quantity over quality. Kloffenstein and Lopez are intriguing but the rest seem pretty spare.

Possibly but I think Biggio and Grichuk could be more quality than quantity. On paper it looks like the best deal we might get. And releasing or trading Lyles, Foltynewicz, Culbertson, Dahl and others opens spots on the 40 for Terry, Jung and others. Time to see Winn, Crouse & others at Globe Life

Not a chance. That is a weak return.

It is not even close to being time to see Crouse at Round Rock yet. Winn could be ready for Round Rock within a few weeks, maybe.

I would also like to find out what trade value IKF has.

I am still holding out hope that either Folty or Lyles will generate some interest from a team desperate for a fifth starter.

okay i thought it was a start. what would it require?
I am not sure that Toronto makes for a good match up for us as trade partners.

I think we might get a better overall return if we don't bundle all three of them.

I would like a MLB top 100 prospect for Gibson.

Maybe by September one or two could make an appearance.

If we get a quality upper level pitcher back in trade that guy could possibly come up then.

IKF is an interesting player. He plays a nice defensive game and leads with 90 hits. He gets wood on the ball for the most part but grounds out a lot. BA is not bad at .263. Seems lacking in power but he is young and could easily turn into a better than avg player.

RE: IKF

He's hit a wall recently, for sure. For a time he was leading the AL in hits, now he's 17th. Good defender, which I think should be a priority over hitting.

Can't say I really have any strong feelings towards him one way or the other. If they kept him, I'd be fine. If they traded him, I'd be fine.

Forecasting MLB's ROY Race Halfway Through the Season

1. OF Adolis García, Rangers

It’s hard to believe that, less than five months ago, the Rangers designated García for assignment just before the start of spring training. Luckily for Texas, the 28-year-old went unclaimed, and now he’ll represent the franchise at the All-Star Game next week. García swings and misses a ton, but when he makes contact he does serious damage. He ranks 10th among qualified hitters in barrels per plate appearance (10.0) and 27th in average exit velocity (91.4 mph), punishing fastballs at a .324 clip. García’s bat has cooled off a bit in the last month, and his free-swinging ways could lead to issues down the stretch, but he’s the prohibitive favorite at the moment.

MLB Power Rankings: First-Half Grades for Each Team

27. Texas Rangers (LW: 26)

Opening Day rank: 29th Grade: C-

The best development of the Rangers’ season so far is that the team’s most desirable trade assets—All-Stars Joey Gallo and Kyle Gibson—have enjoyed outstanding years and are maximizing their trade value. As for players who are more likely to figure into the long-term vision, Adolis García was essentially given away by the Cardinals, and his breakout has been among the biggest surprises of the year. Former first-round pick Dane Dunning was the key return in the Lance Lynn trade, and he’s shown plenty of promise through the first three months.

I understand everyone’s views but I still think our best trade package comes fro us bundling at least Gallo and Gibson together

Possibly. Teams might be hesitant to bundle together what it would (should) take for that to happen

I am still not certain that Gibson or Gallo will be traded. We have seldom traded away good players with more than a full year left on their contract over the past few years.

Are there that many examples of the Rangers having players with affordable contracts at that length performing at the level Gallo/Gibson are?

I can definitely see them not trading Gallo, but if they can't swing a good deal for a starter who is literally in the running to start the All-Star game with maybe the most team-friendly contract ever... then the entire FO needs to be shot into the fucking sun.
