Swift may not be "scraps" to us...but he most definitely is to a team replacing him with Saquon Barkley.
Well, can't argue with that take. It was Philly's decision to do what they did. But checking this past season's comparative stats, along with their two respective salaries, I'm more than happy that Poles opted for the "scraps"

Barkley:
Age: 27
Salary/Guaranteed: 3 yrs, $37,750mil/$26mil
2023 key stats:
Games: 14, rushing: 247/962 yds - 3.9 pc, 6 TD - receiving: 41/280 yds - 6.8 pc, 4 TD

Swift
Age: 25
Salary/Guaranteed: 3 yrs, $24mil/$15.3mil
2023 key stats:
Games: 16, rushing: 229/1,049 yds - 4.69 pc, 5 TD - receiving: 39/2140 yds - 5.58 pc, 1 TD

Reviewing it all, Barkely gets the edge on receiving, but everything else goes in favor of Swift. Not gonna say Swift is better than Barkley, and Philly can say he's "scraps" till the cows come home, but the numbers would argue otherwise.

Barkley's OL in NY last season was trash but I think Philly fans will be disappointed if he misses 5-6 games. I understand they have Gainwell but they may regret that signing.

Maybe.

Well, no matter what, assuming both backs stay healthy, Barkley should outgain Swift, if for no other reason than he'll be the unquestioned lead back who gets the large bulk of the action, whereas Swift is going to be #1 as well, yet by committee. The Bears like rotating in 3 RBs.

The Eagles line was one of the leagues best. The Giants line was possibly the worst in history.

Don't get me wrong. I really like the Swift addition.

Just saying NY didn't have a very good OL. Heck, fightintittybags wasn't a fan of adding Barkley. Guy in the NFL forum on the FA thread.

The worst in history? No way.

That was the one that almost got Texans QB David Carr murdered back in the day.

Killed his career. Guy was traumatized.

2 years and 49 mill.

48 guaranteed. Max value is 51 mill.
Nice signing by the Texans, the salary wasn't what Hunter supposedly wanted ($30+mil per year), altho he still makes out well. We'll hve to wait and see if there's any backstory here with respect to whether or not Poles even made an attempt to sign him. This seems like a doable salary.
