Sure, 1 game vs a team that somebody on here called a scary team recently....

LOL.
If they can play top half of the league defense they are a threat. The two biggest question marks were bigs and defensive lineups. They have some legit defenders and then some subpar ones. When you have two top 10 players and arguably one top 3 player you can contend. Only one for sure title contender in the west helps, those two guys have a ton of playoff experience.

Yep.

We got some size to defend the perimeter. The question is in the low post and they did a solid job last night.

One game, lmao. The lakers are in the top half of the league in most defensive categories, just not top 10.

They were in the bottom half of the league in defense for much of the beginning of the season. So, they've had to be at a top 10 or close level for a while to move up into the top half of the league.

The question is...can they sustain it for the rest of the season and playoffs?

Teams will target Luka in the pick and roll big time in the playoffs to try and hunt that mismatch

A weakside PG/SF pick action that targets both Reeves and Luka specifically at the same time. With no rim protection behind them.

They arent set up to win this year unless they can score out of their minds.

Yeah, the current starting center (Hayes) is athletic enough to defend the pick and roll well...but he's too light in the ass to defend against some of the bigger guys rolling to the hoop. A guy like a healthy AD, for example, would bully him on the pick and roll.

Surgery could actually restore some of Embiid’s trade value.

@Pastafazul…

This is why guys don’t play hurt as much anymore. It is bad for the organization on many levels.

Yep. The surgery is necessary either way. No team is gonna give up anything of value for Embiid and his contract right now with so many question marks about his durability. If he tries to deal with it thru rest and recovery, any offer they'd get would be pennies on the dollar. So whether the Sixers intend to keep him or not, surgery is gonna be necessary to give him a chance to play up to his potential. This isn't an injury that's gonna go away.
