Yeah, Windhorst used to be better than this click bait...

He correctly doesn't want to burn first round picks for players who won't turn them into contenders.

It's funny, every time there are trade proposals for players that can actually turn them into contenders, people say "there are other teams that can easily beat anything they offer" then those same people criticize them for not wanting to use their first round picks when they're unlikely to bring someone who will make them contenders.

A lot of these same folks talk about what their "needs" are, but never about how they're supposed to get them.

Additionally, the last time Pelinka listened to Lebron and AD...they ended up with the Westbrook debacle. Maybe if Lebron and AD didn't push for that...they'd have more assets now to make a trade for a player or 2 that could turn them into real contenders.
TJ12 keeping it 100.....

And I have been pretty critical of Rob on here over the years.

Who out there is worth both those 1st rounders (that are by Shams and Windy's accounts very valuable)?

And that will make that much of a difference on the Lakers and their season.....

That's the thing...there are players out there that are rumored to potentially be available, but they aren't going to be available for picks only. The Lakers would have to include enough salary to bring in the player(s).

Considering that Lebron and AD are untouchable and that Reaves to an extent probably is too...the Lakers probably lose a lot of depth.

Example...Lavine is playing well and would provide the additional playmaker they need, but he's making over $43 million. He would be worth at least one of those firsts. It would be a risk because we don't know if he can accept being the 3rd and sometimes 4th option.

They could go after Vuc who would fill the need for a center...but as much as I like him...I wouldn't give up a first for him.

Yeah, I get it....And it most likely would require Hachimura, Reaves, Vandy, Vincent and both picks.....that's a lot.....1 starter to replace 2 and we lose 2 bench guys, albeit one has yet to play this season....

LaVine isn't a fit IMO. Even if he was, it doesn't move the needle a whole lot. He thinks he's a #1 option and on a good team, he isn't.

This season he is averaging 24, 5 and 5 on 51.3% from the field and 45% from 3. The Lakers could use that.

But yeah, as I said, it's a risk because he'd be the 3rd option most of the time and we don't know how well he'd respond to that.

I know I have been saying we should trade both those picks for the last few years but now thinking we should keep them for the post-Bron (and AD, he will not be playing in 2030 or 2031 most likely) era.

UNLESS, it's a robbery type heist Rob could pull off.....then trade them and whatever salaries to make it work. But, don't trade them just to trade them and make a deal.

You don’t have a choice in the matter. Bob was always keeping them

And who's out there that they could get?

Dfs was a good start

Walker Kessler is perfect for them

(Is also sign biyombo)

If things keep going south there Ty Jones is a fun rental

You can get creative

Knect one first and Unprotect the pick Utah already has are all options

I like him and the rumors do persist. Wouldn't take much to match his salary. He's also only 23, so he'd be able to be around for the "post Lebron era".

Article I saw suggested they could do something involving Knecht, removing the protections from the 2027 pick the Jazz got from the Lakers and their 2031 first rounder. It's Ainge and it's the Lakers, so he'll want to make it hurt a little for old times sake (lol)...the question is how bad he wants to make it hurt and if the Lakers will take it.

Problem of course is that others could outbid them.

Nah, we keeping Westside Knecht.

Kid could end up being the steal of the '24 draft.

Disagree.

I like Knecht too. But Kessler provides exactly what the Lakers need and he's only 23 (same age as Knecht). Having Kessler means AD plays the 4 which is what he did a lot when the Lakers won in 2020 because they had Dwight. In fact, he'd be able to play the 4 almost exclusively because Kessler is a starting quality center and Dwight wasn't anymore.

It wouldn't really hurt the depth either because Rui would just replace Knecht coming off the bench.

That’s basically the deal

Then you got your two expiring contracts (wood and JHS) and two seconds to add another defnesively focused guard

I kinda like facilitating a Memphis deal and taking Konchar

He’s also scoring well in isolation d this year

Which is what reddicks system needs

Yeah, they could do something like that. Although, Gabe Vincent is starting to look more like the Miami version. If he keeps it up, they may not need another guard.
