Yeah, they could do something like that. Although, Gabe Vincent is starting to look more like the Miami version. If he keeps it up, they may not need another guard.

If you deal knect in a kessler deal you might

Vincent you may need just because he’s one of the few plus defenders you have

Disagree.

I like Knecht too. But Kessler provides exactly what the Lakers need and he's only 23 (same age as Knecht). Having Kessler means AD plays the 4 which is what he did a lot when the Lakers won in 2020 because they had Dwight. In fact, he'd be able to play the 4 almost exclusively because Kessler is a starting quality center and Dwight wasn't anymore.

It wouldn't really hurt the depth either because Rui would just replace Knecht coming off the bench.
I know.

I just really like Knecht, he could end up being a really good player.

The guy the Lakers wanted and who would have solved their Center issue and who they got beat to the punch over by the Suns was Nick Richards from the Hornets. If James and AD and even Redick would just chill, perhaps they have the Center they want developing in either or both Kokolo and/or Jemison.

The Lakers get suckered into over-paying for people they so-called "want" or think they "need", encouraged by two players that perhaps won't be there in 3-4 years or so. Redick was hired on his agenda to develop young talent and here they are frantically trying fit the proverbial round peg into a square hole or vice versa.

The Lakers have already stated they are not trading Reaves or Hachimura. Even though they have not stated it publically, I firmly believe they won't move Western Knect either. The lakers should just be patient. They have already decided to not trade First Round picks. They should just continue to develop who they have, sacrifice the year, and comeback in the future with a contending team.

The Lakers can get suckered into giving-up their young talent in grasping for their self-imposed mirage like they have done in the past. They should stick to Redick's agenda (including Redick) and continue to deveop and build for the future after James is gone and then eventually AD.

This is the sort of click bait nonsense that fuels the public opinion along with James and AD bitching to put pressure on the Lakers to make a deal. Then Pelinka does something stupid and the stuck cycle they are slowly getting free from gets reset for more problems. The Lakers should just stop talkin', ignore the public and press contributions to this, and settle into the Redick agenda to develop they talent they have.

LaVine is a too expensive and a bad fit for the Lakers' present roster and Redick rotations. This would be a bad trade for a lot of reasons. Vincent is beginning to emerge as his old self in shooting AND playing D so that will help the backcourt point guard situation.

Vanderbilt has been cleared to play, Christie and DFS are coming along nicely, and Milton, Kokolo, and Jemison continue to need playing time as does Western Knecht and Hayes and even guys like Bronny, Reddish, and Traore.

This is another forgotten factor that is coming to a resolution that favors no more trades until next year especially ones involving LaVIne or other Bulls players.

Yeah, Windhorst used to be better than this click bait...

He correctly doesn't want to burn first round picks for players who won't turn them into contenders.

It's funny, every time there are trade proposals for players that can actually turn them into contenders, people say "there are other teams that can easily beat anything they offer" then those same people criticize them for not wanting to use their first round picks when they're unlikely to bring someone who will make them contenders.

A lot of these same folks talk about what their "needs" are, but never about how they're supposed to get them.

Additionally, the last time Pelinka listened to Lebron and AD...they ended up with the Westbrook debacle. Maybe if Lebron and AD didn't push for that...they'd have more assets now to make a trade for a player or 2 that could turn them into real contenders.
Yeah windhorst was far better. Liked him best when just a beat reporter here. was still pretty good when he got to the national scene but he's like most just looking for clicks with little substance.
