Copying the OKC model it’s a good idea. They need to get more picks for Markkanen

They also owe a top 10 pick this year to okc and it’s top 9 next year if it doesn’t convey this year

Cannot give that away

Milwaukee would have to deal Middleton I think. And who is trading for Middleton?

You haven't been following this whole Butler/Beal trade rumor cycle?

Beal has said he'd only waive his no trade clause if he was going to a team that's a contender. The only team that's shown so far to have an interest in actually taking Beal's god awful deal is the Bucks. The rumors have been a 3 or 4 team deal with Phx/Mia/Mil/4th team that's under the cap to take salary dumps (Toronto, Detroit, etc). But none of that was likely because Phoenix had 1 first round pick. That's not enough to do a deal because Miami is gonna want draft compensation, the Bucks likely want draft compensation to take Beal's horrible contract, and the 4th team probably wants something too. Now Phoenix has the draft capital to make this deal. In this case, Middleton would likely end up in Miami. Sure, he's basically cooked at this point with his age and injuries, but that doesn't matter to Miami because it saves them money (contract expires next year) and they're getting other stuff and finally getting out from Jimmy.

The thing that makes no sense in all of this is why the Bucks would want Beal anyway. I can't stress enough how horrible that contract is but setting that aside, a Dame/Beal backcourt is just gross defensively. In this deal, they'd likely be losing Connaughton, Portis, and Middleton so they'd be left with Giannis, a terrible defensive backcourt that's getting old, and old man Brook Lopez. That's just begging for Giannis to ask for a trade in 2 years. It's a terrible fit but all the rumors keep saying the Bucks are high on Beal so :noidea: Let them hang themselves I guess

why would any team trade 3 first round picks for a 1 and the one you are getting is so far in the distance that you will most likely be fired from GM before you can use it? I do not understand why they would agree to such a dumb trade. Maybe I am not following the NBA enough lately to make sense of this.

Because they 1 you are getting could end up being a franchise changing talent and the 3 giving up are likely to be in the 20s.

Kind of move that makes sense when you run a team in a market like Utah.

I love the idea of getting distant firsts from teams trying to contend now with aging cores.

I fully believe the bucks bad luck was middleton opting out

Otherwise he would’ve been the one in the dame trade. but yeah, I don’t get them doing this unless this is Gianni’s demanding it

Absolutely

Even if it ages like the pg13 trade (picks 12/13) or the Al horford trade (currently slotted to be 8 in 2025) that’s a w imo

Plus…ping pong balls

Basically this:

Utah has 3 picks in those years

They’re giving the worst of the 3 each year

Most likely in the 20s if not 30 (as the pick would be for the 2025 draft)

In return they get an unprotected pick from a team who’s only draft capital is a late 2 this year and the 3 late firsts you just traded them

Phoenix has no future right now and almost entirely zero if they trade for butler
Yep.

That '31 Suns pick should be in the lotto because they most likely will be in rebuild mode. Unless they signed some good FA's with all the cap space they will have after KD and Butler retire.

Really wondering what the Thunder are going to do before the deadline. Here is a list of their draft capital. They are going to have to trade some 1st round picks in this years draft.

That Sixers 1st round pick this year looks pretty shiny right now. It’s 1-6 protected but right now they are sitting at 8.
