Lebron is straight up trash tonight. Just constant bad turnovers

Most of the team was trash. Reaves was 0 for the second half. Rui constantly gets lost on defense . 32% from 3, 62% FT. Gave up 7 more baskets and 7 points at the FT line, despite leading by 10 midway through the 3rd quarter, at which point they took off the rest of the game and the Spurs ran right through them. JJ wasn't even calling timeouts to stem the tide. The one TO I saw him call in the second half before I turned the game off was after a made Lakers basket for some reason.

Really took my Rams high down a few pegs.

So, only emphasize the positives

Not really. Most of Herro minutes come with bam and vice versa. Nobody ever said Herro was a defensive stopper so kind of useless to show that stat. Are we going to show the wolves offensive stats for gobert?

Miami is a a top 10 defensive team

I tried to add that emphasizing the positive makes sense, but I took too long and timed out lol. The hazards of posting while at work.

I was just curious. It seems he's a little below average (about 350th of 500 or so), not as bad as I expected. His net rating is slightly positive (113 offensively, just under that defensively).

I mean it almost sounds like teams need to be smarter.

Yes and no.

Teams definitely need to be smarter...but the league trying to force parity isn't a very smart move either. There is data that shows that dynasties are good for sports.

Recent example...prior to the recent dynasty, no one was showing up to watch their team play the Warriors. Since their dynasty began, teams attendance figures are much higher when the Warriors show up.

The Heat are a good example too. I'm sure I'm not the only one who watches them less now than when they were the Heatles.

Teams like the Lakers and Celtics drive up opponents attendance even when they're average or worse because of all the winning they've done in the past.

So you are in favor of continued subsidation of 2 teams? Dynasties are still possible, just not with the same teams.

hasn't always been the same teams and they're not as possible as you'd like to think.

With the new CBA it seems even more difficult to keep a really good team together. That's why I think the league should look at creating some sort of salary cap exceptions for players that the team drafted. That would make it easier for teams to keep the guys they drafted longer term.

Teams like the Thunder and Cavs wouldn't have to be deciding which guys they drafted to let go because of cap considerations. So, your Thunder might have to take a full cap hit by re-signing SGA but may be able to absorb that because of a "discount" on Chets cap hit.

From everything I’m seeing it looks like the cap is going to be going up quicker in the next few years so hopefully it helps. I just think all GMs should have to work at real team building.

It's all "real team building". If you're a team that is already playoff/contender status, you're not going to be able to sustain that through the draft, but you can use FA and trades.

Teams that are in less desirable markets might need to "bottom out" for a couple of years before they can build back up, but why should any team have to?

And your Thunder weren't built all that differently. A big part of how they have acquired the talent they have is through using draft picks they received from trades. Whether you're trading directly for a player who can help your team right away...or picking up draft picks via trade to draft players who can help your team later...you're still using trades as part of how you build your team.

The days of waiting on players to demand trades are over. A team can’t be built on trades and free agency alone any longer. It’s obvious how the leagues want teams built. Let’s see who can and can’t conform.

I do think that 2-3 seasons of bad playoff ratings would get the league to adjust to the direction they are headed though.
