So? They had most of the things he brought, just not in one player. They gave up a real chance with how they were built.
Yep and Luka is a better offensive player than he is

What I meant was I don’t see how they could ever say it gives them a better chance than they had.
Exactly. It gives them a better chance because AD filled a hole for them.
Kyrie and Luka gave them to playmakers, but they had a bit of a hole in the middle of their lineup.
They lost Luka's playmaking, which is significant, but at the time of the trade, they still had Kyrie. So, they basically lost something of a redundancy but gained a post presence.
You are the only person anywhere I have seen say it actually gives them a better chance at any point. I don’t see it, he’s not that guy and never has been.It gives them a better chance because AD filled a hole for them.

The real issue with this trade, aside from the fact that Luka was beloved in Dallas, is that AD is 6 years older.
So, while they may have increased their title chances, they also shortened their window.
Teams that win a title have a post presence, look at Boston from last season. You are the only person anywhere I have seen say it actually gives them a better chance at any point. I don’t see it, he’s not that guy and never has been.

So you trade a Batman to end up with 2 Robins. He's not "that guy" has nothing to do with it. He doesn't have to be "that guy" to increase their chances of winning. He didn't have to be "that guy" when the Lakers won a title with him because Lebron was "that guy"...but the Lakers don't get that title without AD.
In this case, the Mavs had Kyrie to be "that guy".
AD isn't ever going to be "Batman"...but he's about as good as a "Robin" gets.

Yep.No, as I posted, (you actually quoted it), the idea was that Kyrie would be Batman.
To be clear, as with @Stakesarehigh I'm not saying it was a good trade for the Mavs...the Lakers clearly won the trade...it's just not as bad a trade as some are making it out to be.
And to be completely fair, some of what makes it "not as bad" is Max Christie being in the trade. He was starting to come into his own with the Lakers and from the few times I've seen the Mavs since the trade, seems to be doing even better in Dallas. He'll have to develop into an all-star (which isn't likely) for this trade to get close to even though.
Why do need to BS so much?No dude.
I’m not criticizing him at all.
I’m refuting a claim made by someone who literally believes he was a god

Of course you are criticizing, we all do that, it’s what makes these forums entertaining
As I said when the trade happened, this was 2 things...Dallas not wanting to pay Luka and Dallas pushing all of their chips to the middle to win a title with Kyrie within the next couple of seasons.
If it works, all will be forgiven in Dallas (mostly anyway). If it doesn't...it may get ugly among the fans when Dallas is in a rebuild.
Leflop is brain fartin every stinkin game he plays , whether it’s age or he just thinks he can get away with everything… I’m goin with the latter. You're making one stretch coming off a groin injury at age 40 as evidence that he's soft? You're better than that....unless you have an agenda.
