Surprised about Shaq and Jokic
I was very surprised about shaq
Surprised about Shaq and Jokic
Can’t allow a 13-0 run at that point of the game without either first getting your best player back in the game or calling a timeout to try and slow the momentum
Very easy to say in hindsight.
13-0 runs can happen very quick. All it takes is 1 play on the other side to change it.
And coaches who have confidence in their players generally trust their guys to work through small runs (which is would have been at the time you wanted him to call a timeout).
Hell, arguably the greatest coach of all time didn’t believe in using timeouts for this purpose. Wanted his players to learn to figure it out.
You can say he should have called a timeout right now looking back at the decisive run that turned the game.
But in the moment I am sure Spo had his reasons for not calling it.
Not nearly as cut and dry as you are trying to make it.
Plus….
It’s not Canada
Lol @ Canada saving taxes.
Lakers down 20 in Utah
Maybe he's starting the tank for Cooper Flagg? Lol, this is the only thing that makes sense to me here with the TO refusal.Wasn’t a hindsight thought. I was yelling at my tv for him to call a timeout when okc cut it to 4 in a blink of an eye. This team just scored single digits last week vs Brooklyn in the 4th and also earlier this season vs Orlando. Point is this isn’t the group to have confidence in.
And yes Phil Jackson did it all the time with his teams but he also had a Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Kobe Bryant, or Shaq on his team most of his coaching years.
The last point I will make is 4th quarter on the road against the best team in basketball isn’t the let your team figure shit out time or place. This is an avg team at best. I’m cool with this approach in the first half but 4th quarter on the road? Hell no
Had this happened to any team in a playoffs game, that coach would get killed for not attempting to stop the momentum but because it was a random game in middle of February letting your team who trying to avoid the play in spot die is ok
health care coming out of your paycheck vs out of your taxes trade off
Maybe he's starting the tank for Cooper Flagg? Lol, this is the only thing that makes sense to me here with the TO refusal.
Someone on the same side as me. Appreciate you
All I am saying is that it isn’t as black and white as you make it.
There are times in football where it is clearly wrong to sit on a timeout.
Just not the case in basketball.
Mediocre team on the road against best team in basketball and you don’t think a timeout should be called before the 13-0 run. Sad thing he didn’t even call it after they tied the game. He made them first take the lead lol
F the Lakers! That effort cost me a very nice parlay. I mean it was Utah. C'mon man!At least once a month, the Lakers just sleepwalk through a game. Didn't help that they didn't have 2 of their better defenders (DFS and Vincent), but that was disgusting to watch.
At least Alex Len proved to be as awful as I expected (shakes head)...
It wasn’t going the other way at that point, the Thunder were finally engaged. The truth is the Heat shot their wad and Spoelstra knew it I expect.Yeah, I don’t think that is fair criticism.
Easy to say in hindsight.
Plenty of reasons not to call a timeout there and just as easily could have gone the other way.
What I am saying is that you probably lose that game either way. OKC is far superior.
And you are fixating on one decision out of literally hundreds a coach has to make during a game.
Easy to say he should have called timeout now. But when it was 5 or 7 Miami could have just as easily hit a 3 and ended it.
I don’t know why Spo chose not to use a timeout there. Neither do you.
But I am equally sure there were plenty of good decisions by Spo throughout that you are ignoring here too.
