But why not give it a shot? They have Curry until 2027 and can't really do a full rebuild until he retires, might as well load up for those years as best you can, have some excitement, hope for a long shot.

The other option is start a rebuild while Curry is still there and that's hard to do and I doubt he'd be cool with it. I suspect he told them he plans to retire after his contract is up and that's why they signed Butler the same years.

Watching the Ws open weakly vs the Jazz right now, the announcer says Curry has had 4 games in a row shooting under 40% from the field...never had 5 in a row. Started tonight 0 for 3.

He's playing hurt, tendinitis in both knees, got a finger problem too. He's just old now. This trade (and Butler extension) really convinces me he plans to retire after his contract is up in 2027 and he has told the team this.
