This is such a desperate move.

Last ditch effort for the Dubs in the Curry era.

Not enough I am afraid.

But why not give it a shot? They have Curry until 2027 and can't really do a full rebuild until he retires, might as well load up for those years as best you can, have some excitement, hope for a long shot.

The other option is start a rebuild while Curry is still there and that's hard to do and I doubt he'd be cool with it. I suspect he told them he plans to retire after his contract is up and that's why they signed Butler the same years.

I guess he'd be injury backup for Holland, Thompson and Hardaway.

Waters seems pretty terrible.

Realistic hope is they get CJ Mccollum and give up Hardaway.

Draymond and Butler are both guys who take winning very seriously, they will have zero problems with each other. Butler is not a 'cancer', and outsiders really don't understand Draymond at all. Not to mention, the GM who made the deal is plenty aware of what these players are like. Dray is not getting traded.
