You think what the Lakers did with Kobe worked? It did not, it killed them for a decade. It does in some cases, like Curry, and Kobe, and Dirk, etc.

That team was broken from the get go. This one is not, it fits today’s game perfectly.Last team that young was probably the OKC team with KD, Westbrook, Harden and Iggy. They made one final and lost 4-1. If memory serves, it took them 2 or 3 appearances to get them that one finals appearance which is typically what happens with young teams.
Not saying this Thunder team can't reverse the trend, but no one really has before.
Uh, wut? You said loyalty doesn't work 'either direction'. I said it works sometimes, as in sometimes both the team and the megastar are loyal to each other. Not to win titles, but because it's the right thing (and it works financially)You think what the Lakers did with Kobe worked? It did not, it killed them for a decade.
Thinking it works financially has a lot more to do with it than anyone actually thinking it’s the right thing to do. Fans get attached to players, maybe that makes it the right thing to do. Giving players deals based purely off past performance once they are no longer in their prime is not always the optimum way to run a business though.Uh, wut? I already said keeping Curry or Kobe may delay you winning your next title but it is still the right thing to do.
It is definitely the optimum way to run a sports franchise to keep your generational icon in house so you can keep cashing checks from attendance and merch and you don't piss off your fans. Not to mention the league seeing you are an owner who will do right by their stars.Thinking it works financially has a lot more to do with it than anyone actually thinking it’s the right thing to do. This is so obvious and I'm surprised thunder is pushing backYep, if we're talking cold logic, the Warriors should trade Steph for what would likely be a sizeable number of assets and start their rebuild now...but unless Steph goes to the FO and requests a trade, the right thing for the Warriors to do is to make sure Steph retires a Warrior.
Like the Lakers with Kobe, won't win any titles and might not even make the playoffs, but they'll still make a ton of money because people are going to want to see Steph play as much as they can before he retires.

Oh I fully understand already, I just tend to think in terms of always trying to put the best team on the floor.If/when the Thunder get an iconic player who spends his whole career with them like a Kobe or a Steph...you'll understand...even if you don't necessarily agree.
As for thinking it's the right thing to do, I can't speak to the Warriors, but I know that Jeanie Buss didn't like how Magic's career just ended and that he didn't get to go out on his own terms and said that she wouldn't let it happen again if she could prevent it. Seems pretty clear that the Lakers felt it was the right thing to do. Lakers fans are notoriously cranky when the Lakers aren't doing well, but no one complained about what was happening in Kobe's final years...so it seems Lakers fans felt it was the right thing as well.
His point, which I agree with, is if SGA brings you 3 titles and wants to stay there his whole career, you'd surely be happy to overpay him at the end. And so would ownership.Oh I fully understand already, I just tend to think in terms of always trying to put the best team on the floor.
Unfortunately Hartenstein is out. Thunder still a 2 pt favorite. Not sure about that, they really depend on Hartenstein.Looking forward to the Cavs/Thunder game tonight.
The first one was one of the best games I've watched all season.

Maybe, hope I get to find out. No one player brings even a single title though. His point, which I agree with, is if SGA brings you 3 titles and wants to stay there his whole career, you'd surely be happy to overpay him at the end. And so would ownership.
6-0 with Jdub playing center but even Hartenstein got in foul trouble against those guys. He will be missed. It was known he was likely the perfect fit but I’m not sure anyone could have forecasted how good it has been. Cleveland better have their running shoes on, small ball will be on display.Yeah, especially considering what Allen and Mobley did to them last time.
Can’t imagine it goes a lot better inside tonight.

Always, it’s a college atmosphereShit really? Should still be a helluva game though. I expect Thunder fans to be very loud tonight.
Anyone can write a hypothetical article these days. I just wonder who is paying these slapdicks though? I get some of them are just blogs but a lot of them aren’tlol
Apparently, proofreading isn't a thing anymore. This "perfect hypothetical trade" idea has the Lakers receiving Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt, Jalen Hood-Schifino, a 2029 first round pick and a 2025 2nd round pick by sending the Hawks Onyeka Okongwu and Bogdan Bogdanovich.
