oh, so just chatter. i mean, if they're not going to give JdG Opening Day (I would be shocked if they didn't), then they might as well give him Sunday night, which is a nationally televised game.
Yeah, I also saw where someone suggested that Sunday night for Perez instead of Opening Day. They also mentioned that Perez threw 13 shutout innings against the Phillies in 2 starts last year.

that's much more sensible, in my opinion.

Opening Day goes to the lead horse, always. Perez had an outstanding 2022, no question. But deGrom is the lead horse, also no question.

I think deGrom gets Opening Day, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Perez. I think, had Bochy been here with Perez last year, that that could have swayed the decision toward Martin. Either way, we should get two very well pitched games.

I definitely understand you wanting deGrom since you are going. At least you will have a great pitcher either way. Unlike one time I thought I was going to see Darvish pitch, and he developed a stiff neck, and I had to watch Feldman instead.

I am going to be watching to see what Specht does this year. He is my dark horse candidate to start showing up on our top 30 lists by this November.

Hearn got the home opener nod last year. It didn't go well.

Neither did the one I went to in Detroit when he pitched, and Woody refused to take him out.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say deGrom-Peréz-Eovaldi will be one of the two best SP trios in all of baseball.
deGrom wins the Cy Young award with a 2.40 ERA, Peréz pitches 180+ innings with a 3.25 ERA, and Eovaldi finishes with a 3.40 ERA.
Perez gets a three-year extension after the season.

That would be great!

I was able to watch Darvish first start. It was electric

This is the little boy, who was Dusty Baker's batboy son, who almost got run over at home plate in the 2002 World Series.
