Coming from somebody that never played it I am sure.

I've played 3 tourney games in a single day when in high school. Just like every high schooler did back in the day. That was how weekend tourney's work. They still do it that way. Go look at any AAU tourney. They is no way to do one of those without playing multiple games a day.

You are the one that obviously has never been around the sport. Anyone with even just a little bit of high school basketball experience has been in these tourney's or at least know how they work. You cant bring in 8-16 teams for a weekend event and not play multiple games in a single day.

The average basketball player runs only about 2.5 miles in a single game. Obviously high school and NBA are two completely different levels. But these are professional athletes. It's not ideal.....but playing in back to backs isnt nearly as big of a deal as people make it out to be lately.

It is absolutely hilarious to see teams sit players for a back to back.

Basketball is not a grueling enough sport that you cant play in back to back games. Hell every single NBA player at some point in high school probably played 3 or more games in a single day. Let alone 2 in 2 days.

3 games in 3 days was not unheard of 20 years ago.

The NBA used to have back to back to back games. The '72 Lakers had 3 or 4 of those during their 33 game winning streak.

If you think HS and the NBA are the same when it comes to the physical type of play nobody here can help you.

And people forget during the short year every team had 2 or 3 back to back to backs

Not really no, just move Memphis to the East where they belong.

SEA, LV, POR, LAC, LAL, GS, SAC, PHX

MIN, UTA, DEN, HOU, NO, OKC, SA, DAL

CHI, MEM, MIL, CLE, DET, TOR, IND, WAS (only weird one, so what?)

NY, BKN, BOS, PHI, ORL, MIA, CHA, ATL (could swap with WAS)
That works.

My take on back to backs is this. You have a bench, play those guys a few more minutes in both games. Everyone acting like there is only one solution to this isn’t thinking.

I don’t know that anyone considers Pritchard to be a prize.
43% from 3.

He's back deep on the bench with White and Holiday.

You'd be very surprised at how many teams out there might consider him a prize.

Plus he's still on a rookie contract. That makes him even more desirable.

My take on back to backs is this
Young men in the prime of their lives playing a game for less than 48 minutes twice a week.

I was 73 and carried a ton and a half of pavers 50-60 lbs at a time in 98 degree temps for four days straight.

I officiated 8 HS basketball games from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm when I was 58 years old.

Playing a back to back basketball games ain't jack shit.

I get it, not as old as you but I’m getting up there. The old days are gone, if you are going to care about sports the sooner you come to grips with that the better.

Just because they won’t reduce the schedule doesn’t mean they shouldn’t.

Can’t have it both ways. Can’t complain about load management if you aren’t in favor of lightening the schedule.

They are prioritizing quantity over quality.

The '72 Lakers didn't use load management.

Wilt at age 35 played 42 mpg and played all 82.

Jerry West played in 77.

Gail Goodrich played all 82.

Happy Hairston and Jim McMillan each played 80.

Happy Hairston averaged the fewest minutes at 34 per game.

So yes, I'd say you can complain about load management and not be in favor of fewer games.

Well, I understand the games have changed. I also understand that owners want to protect their prize players. The problem is that it's sad that a guy is collecting $500,000 a game to play 32 of 48 minutes and is considered a warrior.

What fuck would these guys do if they had to stay up for 48 straight hours with someone shooting at them? And then have to shoot their way out??

If I was still officiating, half of them would be called for 'palming the ball' and the other half for taking three steps to the hoop instead of one.

Preaching to the choir on the palming the ball. Guys stand out close to mid court by themselves and literally turn it over in their hand standing still every time they dribble. This is palming the basketball. They call us dinasours and worse for being bothered by it though.

80 games of basketball over 9 months. Grand total of 3840 minutes or 64 hours of total work possible, for games.

Average common worker works 40 hours a week. Most skilled trades men work 60 hours a week.

I don't give a shit what anyone thinks. An athlete not playing two nights of basketball in a row is disgustingly pathetic.
