The impasse is this:
- Sixers have a big carrot in front of them. Harden and Harris off the books this summer relieves $75 million in cap space. On top of that they have very few commitments next year beyond Embiid, Tucker, BBall Paul, and Maxey’s cap hold.
- Teams aren’t valuing Harden to the point where they’re willing to give up what it takes to get the Sixers to give up on seeing that cap relief.

I think the way this goes now is Harden goes scorched earth forcing the Sixers hand to take a 1st, a swap, and Clippers expiring garbage.

they kinda have to though. It's that or they lose a year of Embiid prime for a Harden standoff.

I think if they went protected first it would get done.

Guys like Morey are always trying to convincingly win a deal instead of making one that puts it to bed.

But to his credit the last time he hardballed he got Harden out of Simmons

I agree

Way too much downside for one year

The heat didnt want Dame? Are you dumb?

You are charging that the Clippers aren't serious about trading for Harden because of their low ball offer.

Heat lowballed for Dame until another team stepped up, when they pivoted to complaining about the Blazers not returning their calls.

You've taken both sides of the fence here.

He could be a better version of The Poole 2 seasons ago....he gonna have something to prove.

He's certainly going to be an unrestricted version in Washington. All shots all the time.

Nah it’s about protecting the downside 5 years from now when the entire clippers core is retired

The clips don’t wanna be the 2010s Nets here

I don’t think you ever lose a year with him as long as he’s healthy. He’s that good. They will win 50 games or close to it. No Harden means increased on the ball time for Maxey which allows him to possibly take his game to another level again as he has done each year of his career. I also think that young guys like BBall Paul and Springer really benefitted from the change of Doc to Nick Nurse. If they’re a solid team as the deadline approaches they have that $75 million in Harden and Harris to help a failing team reset their cap. What I posted before is what I THINK will happen but if im in the decision making I have Morey hold the line and keep Embiid at bay from begging out with the promise of cap space this coming summer. They can add OG Anunoby when he opts out, resign Maxey and still have room to sign some role guys which would probably include Sixers resigning Melton and grabbing another player.

So you’re saying it will just be a swap of Harden for Clippers expiring? That’s not worth the Sixers doing until the deadline as a last ditch effort.

The Sixers still get that cap relief by breaking up Harden's one year cap into multiple expirings (Morris, Covington, Batum) from the Clips though, right? Could do this Oct 15 with draft capital for Harden/Montrezl and keep their expirings more or less even. If they want a young player, they have to sacrifice some of that expiring total of course.

I get it.

I think the heat are a better fit anyway. They have a multi year window

If the clippers stumble, this gets ugly

But if you aren’t pushing your chips in like Phoenix and Boston and even Denver…why aren’t you cashing chips in?
The Clipps?

New arena. Can't trade PG and Leonard and sell tickets when you are the ugly step sibling in town.

I never said that lol. Clippers offer is fine but saying Mann is untouchable is weird. You can't show me a post where i said the offer was lowball

As for the heat because reading clearly isn't your thing, there been reports that came out recently that said how it went down. Portland refused to trade dame to miami because of his agent and never spoke to miami since summer league. Miami offer was fine for what they had on their roster assets wise. Portland was never getting bam or jimmy which is what they wanted because of his agent.

That's likely a factor, but you have to really lack confidence in your GM if you don't think he can reload a team in LA with an owner willing to spend. Always want to limit your future exposure if you can though of course.

You are right

They really don’t

Even though they should

But I’m fine balking at the price

If the experiment falters you’re a risk to lose kawhi and George and harden all for nothing

That’s why I tried to thread the needle

I still think you need a pg

The clippers wanna make a deal while keeping their core rotation in tact

That makes sense

Curious if they put mann in the holiday offer since both bob and mann can net them a first via future trade
Leonard and PG are guys who are Bron lite when it comes to playmaking. They don't necessarily need a PG when they have those 2 and RW.

So if they can't trade him and he acts up....just John Wall Mr Harden?

That would be beyond retarded.

I don't get the Mann thing either, but I only watch the Clips when they play the Lakers lol.

The Miami offer clearly wasn't fine. It was dependent on including one talented young player that the Blazers did not want or thought they needed given their current SGs.

I don't see a situation where OG hits the free agent market without being traded first. If Toronto doesn't think they can keep him, they will trade him before the deadline for a return better than Harden's.
