Fair enough.

I still don’t think firing the other coach was the issue if you simply gave him Rasheed for free he would’ve been fine too lol
Maybe....but we are not talking about taking over a ready made team with MJ/Pippen or Curry and Klay and then Durant. Or duncan/Robinson then Kawhi.

Doing more with less is a smokescreen IMO. If you're accepting less, then your franchise isn't really trying.

It’s a smoke screen because the difference was he got Rasheed Wallace and his predecessor didn’t

And then the team got old

OK, but that is more on the FO and maybe the owner. say what ya will about the guy but he did not run from a challenge. In fact, it almost seemed like he needed it.

You think Phillip was taking a job with a team like the Clippers.....ever? This is only opinion, but my guess is if Phillip was not such a god awful FO exec and could get talent to NY we'd have seen him on the sideline there. But he couldn't.

That's just one stop of many though. I don't think doing more with less in general is GOAT worthy.

You don't call franchise hopping a form of running?

Compared to Phil and the other GOAT contenders?
yes....but what does that have to do with me wondering about your comment about his "too many mediocre stops" and one being at a place who if memory serves couldn't sniff mediocre before him.

He didn't need to. He stayed with his teams as long as possible.

Mediocrity is still mediocrity if preceded by even worse.

In general, no, I guess (though IMO is also why Spo is up there among current coaches at least) but when you can add his titles in the NBA and NCAA that helps.

To be fair, Brown's predecessor also made the ECF, and then they were gifted Rasheed for free.

Seems like the only difference between the two coaches IMO.

It's why hanging it on Brown is a little much for me.

especially when his only title was after the pistons started a riot on their home floor and got rewarded for it, plus the Lakers were without Malone in the finals.
Not to mention, Kobe went into gunner mode and wanted to be the damn #1 option on offense during the damn Finals when Shaq was playing pretty well, despite Wallace doing a decent job on him!!!

Okay, I think am okay now.

I remember that

They put a clock on how long it was between Shaq touches (not shots, touches) during the telecast

That was Kobe’s coup

Um, maybe. But that has nothing to do with coaching ability. 'accepting less' lol

He did? seems like he could have stayed with the Bulls but either his feelings were hurt or wanted no part with MJ/Pippen gone...or both.

you really don't think he'd have pulled a Riley and come down to coach if he were capable of putting together a team that he thought could win?

once again, other than maybe the Clips where was all the mediocrity? Not even saying it didn't exist, but you made the statement so figured you knew.

You can look at his records with various franchises (college, ABA and NBA) as easy as I can post them.

why would I look for something I do not believe exists....certainly not to the level you implied?

That's cool if you want to walk back the comment though.

Even though he did not do much in the college realm if anything, Phil Jackson coached 11 championships in the NBA. Pretty impressive at the level.

Fact is Larry Brown is the GOAT coach actually

I was laughing at you
The only guy who gets graded on that kind of curve for @tlance is Jokic. Larry Brown doesn’t get credit for taking bad teams and turning them around. Larry should have just taken jobs where Jordan was in place or Shaq and Kobe were in place. Then he’d be the GOAT.
