One arguably GOAT NBA. The other arguably GOAT NcAA. Brown is GOAT of the both combined.

To me, Brown is more "GOAT adjacent".

He is arguably the best ever at teaching the game...but he never stayed anywhere long enough to build enough of a resume to be the GOAT.

But not even close to the goat at either
NBA I think so. Only person to win a title with no hall of famers. Only person capable of getting Iverson and a bunch of meh to the finals. Never afraid of going to a new team and winning everywhere he goes.

That plus the college success makes him my GOAT. Like all of these debates of course there’s no definitive answer

It's just what you value. Staying in one spot with a bunch of hall of famers is a different thing. Phil probably best at managing HOFers. Brownb best at taking the players he has at any level and winning. Only way a team wins a title with no HOFers is with a god level coach. Phil could never do that.

Like I said, no way to prove GOAT stuff, the fun is the debate.

Already did. Who's GOAT if not Brown?

Greg Popovich
Phil Jackson

Easily better

Pat Riley

And honestly probably about a dozen guys on Brown’s level on that next tier.

Your Larry Brown worship is simply bizarre.

Those guys all needed superstars, none of them did anything in college. One reason we can argue MJ is GOAT over LeBron is college success.

Stevens was pretty good.

The kyrie trade and the fallout from that really set him back and he burned out
Wasnt he also tired of traveling being the family man he is?

It's frustrating to think what could've been had Dumars not fired him.

Dumars was one of the most bi polar execs I can ever recall. He made some absolutely amazing moves and several that were equally as terrible.

that was mostly just summed up in my burn out comment, but yes. That was definitely part of it.

To be fair, Brown's predecessor also made the ECF, and then they were gifted Rasheed for free.

Seems like the only difference between the two coaches IMO.

It's why hanging it on Brown is a little much for me.

especially when his only title was after the pistons started a riot on their home floor and got rewarded for it, plus the Lakers were without Malone in the finals.

You're misremembering. The Pistons Pacers "riot" was after the title.

Fair enough.

I still don’t think firing the other coach was the issue if you simply gave him Rasheed for free he would’ve been fine too lol

I wouldn't call it worship...just a different viewpoint. Pop can clearly win with a lot of talent and same true of Phillip. Could either do more with less like Brown has been able to do? Pop at least is willing to try, I gess, but has yet to do it. Only one I might put on his level of doing more with less is Spo (though his titles sure were not with less).

Maybe. But the downgrade to Flip was apparent and then going from Flip to Michael Curry was franchise suicide.

Doing more with less is a smokescreen IMO. If you're accepting less, then your franchise isn't really trying.
