So we just going to give Jokic the award every year because his team is good and he’s able to avg 25/12/9? It is lazy voting just like with the other awards.

How is he more deserving than SGA?
If MJ didn’t get it, nobody else should.

Seriously, voter fatigue just doesn’t apply to this Dude.

Is he stat worthy?

Absolutely.

But, SGA was too.

He’s not. Shai is responsible for an epic turnaround in OKC. Not by himself, but he’s the most important piece. OKC looks like just an average team with him out. Meanwhile, the real straw the stirs the drink in Denver is Jamal Murray because he can close.

Nope.

Shai is the best player on OKC.

The turnaround is because of the emergence of everyone else.

Shai producing about the same as last year.

Chet and the continued improvement of JDub is why the Thunder have gotten good so fast.

This is the same logic people tried to use to make Chris Paul the MVP in 2021.

Granted, SGA is much better, but still.

Can’t credit 1 man for a team’s improvement.

You are just as sad as the other voters so he just got to keep doing what he is doing but when LeBron and Giannis did that’s everyone screamed about voters fatigue lol team doesn’t even have to get better

See thought?

It shouldn’t have happened to LeBron.

You want to punish Jokic because of how people voted in the past.

25/12/9 otherworldly efficiency.

Yes.

SGA takes another step next year and he can get his.
I’m with you on everything except the implication that SGA needs another step.

This sounds a bit like the “ it’s not his turn yet” narrative.

I always flashback to the preseason MVP picks by the media.

Sometimes it feels like they don’t want to deviate from that stance.

Even if SGA duplicates this year.

I bet they give it to Luka if his team is within spitting distance.

But guys like Embiid and Luka must avg nearly 40 to get mvp. Its not right
Luka not worthy because he isn’t a top 4 seed.

Jokic gets crowned as the 6th seed.

Yes.

There were major injuries and that is a valid enhancer.

Isn’t SGA leading a team of toddlers to the top of the West a great story too?

Also, not much difference between what Luka is doing and what Westbrook did when he won it.

Only difference is Russ was the first in decades.

* and Luka is a smidge lower than averaging a triple double.

I was by far the loudest voice on here saying Russ didn’t deserve it.

Not because of the team success, because of the stat padding and the terrible efficiency.

Luka is different because there are a number of guys on better teams posting comparable stat lines.

Nobody could match Russ’ raw stats that year even though the voters should have seen through it.

But let’s be honest, most on here couldn’t see through it either.

Why do we get these advance previews of the voting? It’s like they want to know so they can straighten it out if need be.

The league decided Joker leading the team he had to the 6th seed was MVP worthy, Luka will never get that same treatment because he plays with Kyrie who as of last year, is still an All-Star. Fair or not because of who he plays with he’s expected to do better, so finishing as the 4th seed or lower isn’t as impressive as what Jokic did(according to the NBA voters).

And not to bag on Luka but you can’t bring up how close he is to average a TD when he’s not even averaging a double-double

And I have consistently spoken out against that precedent for years because it is absolutely garbage.

If I changed now I would be a hypocrite.
I hear you.

I understand, intellectually, why you don’t hold what has been the norm in the past against Joker.

I’m just incredibly uncomfortable with Jokic being in the company of some of the all time greats.

Maybe he will get there.

If he doesn’t?

Yikes
