as far as madrigal being considered a real good fielder .... i am unimpressed. don't know why haniger was given a hit that first ab as any 2nd baseman even average catches that ball.
Hahn read this post and it is the reason why we traded him is the official story.

Considering the Twins are horrendous, we've left some on the table and STILL will probably hit most of our most positive expectations as far as W/L. Kinda crazy.
LOL - I thought the same thing.

Season wins stand at 80 - with 23 games to play. The Sox would have to go 14-9 to hit 94 wins.

Go Sox!
considering we've been playing .500 ball for a month and a half, and are missing half our starters ... it's not likely.

89-68 with 5 to go.

91 for LSD...92 for me...93 for Mingo.

One of us is gonna nail it on the head from the looks of it...but how we got to the figure will always be intriguing...I feel like we should have more wins upon retrospect.

I'm 100x more concerned with how heathy our roster remains going into the playoffs than any wins, but OTOH, I don't think it would be great for our team's mojo to close out the season by being swept by the Tigs. So at our current 91 dubs, I certainly don't want to win this prestigious prediction award. I'm pulling for you or Mingo to take home the cyber trophy!!!

I want 94...so even though we're all wrong...Iddy would be the most wrong because he chose a range of 11 numbers and would still miss.

it's funny, the second half, with the team pretty much intact, they played about .500 ball. they played much better early when they were most hurt! my guess was decent considering how the team ended up playing but couldn't foresee how good they'd be when most injured.
in any event ... i'm just glad they won the division, tho that obviously isn't saying much with them being the only team over .500.

Well there's no doubt we did not exactly shine in the back half, but then again we faced a much tougher schedule than in the first. No excuses, we simply struggled against better teams. But I like the way things are shaping up here for the second season. Still keeping my fingers X for the post-health report on Rodon. If he checks out ok, then I think we'll be ready to rumble with anyone.....and by anyone naturally, I mean the Astros.

The 1983 Sox had the best 2nd half in baseball and were still eliminated in the first round, 2nd half play is an indicator, but not a determinative indicator.

Time to get our predictions down gang. Prior to Eloy's injury, I was thinking 95 wins for the Good Guys. Now I'm going with 91. I feel he would have been a +6 with his bat and a -2 with the glove, so a net loss of 4 wins. Here are my divisional winners and wild card picks:

AL East
Yankees

AL Central
White Sox

AL West
Astros

Wild Card
Blue Jays
Twins

NL East
Braves

NL Central
Brewers

NL West
Dodgers

Wild Card
Mets
Padres

AL Champs
White Sox

NL Champs
Dodgers

WS Champs
Dodgers
So I didn't do too bad, but then again, it's not like I killed it by any stretch either. Accurately predicted 4 of the 6 division titles, but got none of the WCs correct. And three of those WC picks actually finished with sub .500 records.

Baseball playoffs have a ton of short sample size randomness. You just never know. The 116 win Mariners team famously lost in the first round of the playoffs (2001)

But man I loved that season. 13 years old, win the division by 20 games, 'Winning Ugly' including the red white and blue crazy ones which I now love....chants of Harold! Harold! (who had a very meh year)...Fisk, Hoyt, Walker, etc...the best hitters were Fisk and Luzinski...Hoyt got the Cy but Dotson and even Bannister had better numbers...and of course a very familiar manager.

Lamar Hoyt was dominant - I hope he got over his pain pill addiction. That man could throw strikes and in 83 he was the best pitcher in baseball.

Look at the numbers, he wasn't even as good as two other pitchers on his own team that year

HA - I forgot about Dot and Bannister. Serves me right for relying on my memory.
