Didn't think about position, that would be an ok add.

I'm thinking you get two players for each team now, like (1) and (2). You can only use any given player as a (1) once and (2) once. Then by draft slot:
(1) - drafted at that slot - 4 points
(2) - drafted at that slot - 2 points
then (1) drafted in 1st round - 1 point
Bind position to choice (1)- 1 point (flexible here)
The trade is tough, because you have to think about whether the points are bound to the slots or teams. But could be worked in somehow.
So you essentially fill out a mock witu 3 choices per draft slot?

Choice 1-
Choice 2-
And position prediction?
Each player can only be used twice total, once as a primary pick and once as a back up?

I was saying the position of Choice 1 would be the position prediction, and then you would have 2 choices per slot. If you're picking a position, that would seem to go with your first choice. Though I guess I could see the case where "if player X isn't available, they'll probably go with best OT instead". :hmm:

But the other part, yes.

Michael Lombardi from the Athletic guarantees the 49ers will not pick Fields
I'd be interested in how he's arrived at that conclusion.

Not that I doubt he has legit sources but I think the people that truly know what the 9ers are going to do are very few and they aren't talking unless they it's something they want out.

I can buy it though because the more I dig into Lance the more I feel they'd pick him over Fields because Lance reportably has off the charts football IQ and I do believe that would be a deciding fact in a Lance vs Fields debate for Shanahan.

I’m thinking the same. I heard some insider say that NFL’s inner circle is a limited group these days, about 4 people. Owner, GN, HC and another coach. I don’t who would be his reliable source

Bad publicity = more name recognition. Say something ridiculous/bold/edgy and ppl will point and laugh but atleast you got your name out there

49ers pick is going to be the first suspenseful moment of the draft. For 49ers fans, for division opponent fans and others. I'm rooting for anyone but Fields.

Agree and I honestly think the next pick ATL is the pick that could shift the draft. Do they take a QB to develop behind Ryan? Do they go for another title run and get a sure thing in Pitts? Do they want to protect Ryan and grab Sewell? I’m excited for this draft, so many unknowns imo

I think if they take a QB then ever pick after could be traded for a team looking for a QB until the 5th QB is off the board. Also where does Sewell, Pitt and Chase land make for some drama.

I'm 100% good with Lance or Fields but I prefer Lance because I think with him you can get almost all of the physical stuff you love in Fields but with a higher football IQ.

At 19 Lance was already studying tape of NFL defenses and was trusted to call the protections at the line and give the receivers their route combinations. PFF had him with only 5 turnover worthy plays out of 335 attempts. So he's already doing high level things that guys like Brady do and Manning did in terms of operating an offense but with elite physical traits.

Fields would be scarier sooner but Lance could end up being more terrifying later.

The only fail pick to me would be Mac Jones. I don't think he'd be awful or anything but you're drafting a guy really hoping he turns into a Drew Brees in a guy that doesn't have anything special physically but kills you with surgical precision when it comes to operating the offense and delivering the ball. He's just more likely to end up being a more accurate, less turnover prone Jimmy G or a Kirk Cousins that has less of the choke factor.

I heard Fields has a photographic memory, no joke. He was teaching one year WR’s how to run routes at his 2nd pro day. Both seem to have very high ceilings and would highly benefit from playing under Shanahan imo. I don’t either should be day one starters, especially Lance, both would benefit learning behind a veteran. Fields still has me hanical issues with his throwing motion and release that need to be fixed/tweaked. I just think there is a lot more hope with those two guys than hoping Mac is a more athletic Brees...but who knows tbh.

I’ve got this weird feeling they take Lance now but I hope the pick is Fields.

Little chance of that(photographic memory)
