Ricky Roma
The Catch
I am happy for him.
He is a WR that earned it. Wasnt about Pedigree or potential like so many other WRs get paid for.
Lets face it. He wouldnt have 100+ receptions if he wasnt doing his job. 74 of which moved the chains.
He isnt a one trick pony. Runs all the routes of all depths. he does it with a Meh Quarterback.
Good hands. Good route runner. Sounds like a team guy (good in locker room)
Seriously. Whats not to like? The fact he wasnt a big name coming out of college? If this was a top ten pick that accomplished all he has done. Would you be asking this question still?
I am glad he got paid.
He 64 mil over 4 years is 16 mil a yr.
People claim Cooper should be getting 18 a yr & didnt even play for us the whole year. No one is questioning that.
Theilen has done more. Why question his importance to that team.
you cant compare RB receptions to WR receptions.
WRs are trying to beat their coverage (31 CBs) who is on the everyplay from beginning of play to end.
RBs dont deal with the same scenario to catch a ball unless they line up on line as a WR. They dont run all the same patterns. Honestly I see this comparison as Apples & Oranges.
The thing is, and maybe I'm wrong but....wasn't Diggs also paid pretty well recently? It's a lot of money tied into a position that I don't personally think should be. Especially since you've paid the QB to be the kind of guy who can make receivers better than they are. Maybe it's just the way it is with the contracts and such, but it's not the direction I would want to go in.
