Just read Montez Sweat (edge rusher) just ran a 4.41 40. While that all by itself sounds as amazing as fuck. Makes me wonder if he can play DE (is he too light) at the NFL level. (I know nothing about the guy) Sounds like maybe play a 3-4 LB instead in the NFL. What is any of your opinions that know anything about this guy?

He's a pretty big guy 6'6" 260 lbs perfect size for a 43 DE

Heres his film from the senior bowl

so you dont think he would be a 1 trick pony on the line.
You think he can adapt & be a force as a 4-3 DE?

I'm not as high on him as some of my fellow Lion's fans, but he looked strong as a pass rusher(could use a new move or 2 though) and a very good run defender last year. He's definitely on the radar and i think i'd prefer him to Burns or Ferrell. He did get kicked off the team at MS though for undisclosed reasons though. Theres a bunch of stuff on him in the draft thread on the Lions board if you're interested.

I think Sweat will be a good player but I think he wont get drafted until after the 'elite' dline guys are off the board (Bosa, Q Will, Oliver, Allen)

Burns is younger and probably will get more sacks so I could see him going above Sweat even if he isnt a better all-around prospect. Sweat seems like a guy that will go between pick 8 and pick 16 but maybe closer to 16.

Pass rushers are really hard to predict, though. Seems like one shoots up the boards late almost every year.

I watched just about every game that he played in at MSU. He has amazing strength at his size combined with the agility and speed. I think he is going to be a stud and I really think he could possibly play 3-4 LB in the future as well but more suited for 4-3 DE even at his size.

Yeah he isn't a top 10 guy imo either. Around 15th would be my guess

this is where it would be nice to have a useful button. :thumb:
So you believe at his size he wont get dominated by Professional lineman. As a DL.

He was a beast in college but you never know how these guys will translate. Is he undersized, I think so. He could have a bit of a learning curve and like I said maybe he could transition to BIG LB. I am not sure, I just know he has a ton of talent and is very strong for his size. There have been plenty of guys that have dominated at his size as 4-3 DE's imo

I can't see him being undersized at 6'6", 260. He actually stacks up well to guys like Danielle Hunter (6'5", 252), Chandler Jones (6'5", 265), and Frank Clark (6'3", 265), and they were all top 10 in sacks this year lining up at 4-3 DE. I would guess after getting drafted, he's gonna get thrown into the S&C program and probably end up playing around 270, which would be horrifying with his athleticism. The production was there, as well. I think he winds up an absolute steal if he falls out of the top 10.

He could still go top 10 but I think that probably only happens if the Giants don't take a QB.

I feel like Detroit or Buffalo could pick almost anyone.

He makes a ton of sense for Detroit for sure. Buffalo, who the hell knows. They need at least one of everything.

He is the next Brandon Graham!

That's all I saw when he was on the field Saturday.
Hopefully he transitions quicker then Graham did!

He's got a much higher ceiling than Graham. He's also 4 inches taller. I'd say he compares more to Danielle Hunter, or on the high end Julius Peppers.

But back to Metcalf I think he is either going to be a huge bust or a PB imo. Is 1.9% body fat even healthy? That is ridiculous. I just don't know how you tackle a guy that runs a 4.3 and is 230+ pounds. Also, has a 40+ inch vert. If his route running is that bad he isn't going anywhere though. I still think there is no middle ground, he will be the next Julio or Justin Blackmon.

I didn't mean measurements I meant playing wise.
I think he's a project, not an extreme project but goes through the ups an downs
and has that break out year where he's pushing a pro bowl consideration
