Anybody notice who the Reds play 6 of the first 9 games of the season? If you guessed the Birdlins, you are correct. That means the Reds better come out of the gate ready to play. I would much rather play the Birdlins a little later in the schedule.

Why would they make the schedule that way? It makes no sense

I would think it's easy enough to find a workable schedule and stick to it.
Playing the Mets twice in September isn't exactly what I call sensible.

Playing the Mets, Rockies, Braunless Brewers and Cubs late didnt help the Reds clinch more than a stumble-in one game play-in "playoff" game did it ? They ALL count the same in the W-L, and that's how teams get to, or fail to get to, the post season. The only real imbalance in a MLB schedule are in divisional play where teams are unusually good or bad, and in inter league play where your guys play a 90 win team, and their guys play a 90 loss team, but one win difference can leave one of us out of the playoffs.

When you play teams isn't insignificant, but it has more to do with health and momentum than just the calendar IMO.
