Okafor would be a good fit for the Lakers too. His offensive game is NBA ready and as he's still young his D can only get better under B.Scott.

I think Okafor is a decent get, but in todays NBA, I see Towns having the better career and better upside. I'm no scout but I think he's far more mobile, and he defends and rebounds at a very high level as well. His jump shot is really good (He's over 80% at the line, and many times that translates to in game shooting as well) and he showed some postup ability later in the tournament as well. I just think he's a much better fit for what teams are doing these days, he's kind of a Draymond Green on steroids because his rim protection should be elite. Okafor strikes me as a Al Jefferson ZBo type of player. Not that that's a bad thing, but I would prefer Towns personally.

Oh I definitely agree! My first choice is Towns too. But Okafor is a close 2nd!

I'd consider moving up to #1 to guarantee drafting Towns. I think he definitely has the better career than Okafor. I have concerns about Okafor. I'd be willing to give up the #27 pick along with the #2 pick.

Not a bad idea but if Minnesota is in love with Towns that's probably not enough to get them out of 1. Would you trade Clarkson and #2 if you were Jim/Mitch?

Not me, rather take my chances on Clarkson/Okafor.

No. I like Clarkson a lot.

Reports are that Saunders still ranks Okafor over Towns. Many others in the organization have Towns over Okafor though. If Saunders is intent on drafting Okafor, trading down a spot makes sense for them. They'll get their guy anyway plus another first rounder, albeit a late one. Of course if Saunders is intent on drafting Okafor, he takes him at #1 anyway, but at least the Lakers can guarantee Towns by moving up.

I think Clarkson can become a good pro too...........but if I have to cough him up to guarantee Towns I'd probably do it.

It doesn't make sense for the Lakers. Why give up something to let the team ahead of you pick the guy they want? Make them do it at #1.

Have you watched the Draft Express video of Town's recent workouts in LA? Very impressive.

I kind of realized that when typing that post out.

It only make sense if they want to guarantee drafting Towns.

At this point I'm taking Russell over Okafor. Not over Towns though.

I'm sold on both Towns and Russell. I need to see more of Okafor.
I'm not really sold on either big man to be honest. I think Russell is going to be a superstar. Him and Randle would look awesome on the same team, and Russell has the tools to coexist with Kobe. I hope Russell doesn't fall to the 76ers though. They don't deserve him.

I wouldn't mind the Lakers trading the #2 and #34 and Young as was suggested.

I would like it alot less if they had to give up #27 instead because that could be another valuable young player ( maybe a young SG to replace Kobe ).

I will be very surprised if Minnesota does not take Towns.

and if the Lakers prefer Russell over Okafor, then they should call the Sixers and see if they want Okafor and trade down, grab and extra future pick and draft Russell at #3.

I'd do this in a heartbeat. Hell, I like Towns so much I'd toss in 34 as well. Not sure Minny would go for it though. They'd probably (rightly) ask for more. They can already take Okafor if they wanted him and #27 isn't all that appealing by itself so what are they really gaining? The lure might be just getting extra picks to package with Rubio to send to another team (example: Rubio+pick for Ty Lawson). But the pick itself, I just don't see much value there for Minny's side of it

Me too. I'm not gonna complain if they take Okafor. But, if they don't get Towns, then I want Russell.
