End of the day though, like I think all of us suspect, they will keep the #2 and go with Towns/Okafor.

Mudiay had a private workout today. Okafor and Russell will also have another workout in El Segundo. KAT must be pretty confident that Minnesota will draft him unless a last minute workout is scheduled.

Whomever they pick, I feel confident that they will have made the right decision. They are certainly doing their due diligence.

I didn't think he was doing any team workouts. Did he change his mind? Only thing I saw was he did a private workout in LA where I think teams were invited but he skipped all traditional team invitation workouts.

The only thing that I've heard is that he will/did an interview with Minnesota. No workouts.

He looked very nice in that private workout in LA. Minnesota is getting a nice piece with KAT (and his imaginary friend ).

Russell apparently did pretty well in his work out with the Sixers

Report: Russell 'killed' workout, 'loves Philly' - NBA - ESPN

Hopefully your Laker team doesn't throw a wrench in the machine by taking Russell

Sounds like Hinkie would take Porzingis if Russell is gone
Maybe after all of these years I'm still shell shocked from the Shawn Bradley era...

The Lakers don't need to over-think this. Otherwise, they will screw it up. Rumors are that Boozer is on the move to Miami.

There are articles indicating that the Lakers and Celtics (not with each other) are trying to trade out of the LATE first round. That 27th pick is being offered meaning the Lakers are going to most likely keep the #2 and load up on the second round for cap purposes and then go after one of the MANY FAs rumored to be on their way to the Lakers.

Report: Lakers, Celtics looking to trade out of late first round picks in NBA Draft | ProBasketballTalk

Makes a lot of sense, imo. There isn't likely to be a huge difference between the #27 pick and the #34. It also let's us know that the Lakers expect to be very active when FA starts.

Gonna be real interesting. Draft is Thursday.

Yea TJF12. The article indicated the Lakers don't see a great deal of talent in the latter part of the first round that they can't get in the second and they'll save a bunch of cap space by getting out of that #27 pick and moving into the second round. So, yea, Thursday ought to be very interesting.

Predictable. Saw this coming a month or so ago. They'll either package the later picks to move up to grab a player or get rid of #27. If they can't find a suitor, they'll draft a Euro to keep overseas for a few years so he won't count against the cap.

Tough to imagine they'll just give it away, after taking on Lin for a year just to get that pick. We're only talking about a little less than $1M per, it's not like this pick is going to break the bank.

The latest mock draft I saw this morning has Justin Anderson available at #27. I really like this guy and would be stoked if the Lakers draft him. I think he'll be a strong wing defender in the NBA. He's strong and athletic with great length. He improved his 3-point shooting significantly during his college career.

So many variables involved in those middle of the draft picks. Thursday can't come soon enough!

I agree. He's a great result at #27 IMO. Hollis-Jefferson may be a better defender, but his shot is broken. Looney is enticing, but more of a 4 and still very raw. Vaughn and Wright could be moving up, pushing Anderson down.

George Karl wants Boogie out of there, but the owner wants to keep him. The article does go on to say that the Kings want some proven, veteran players for the number 6 pick. This story is gonna get real interesting
