Rather try to sign a free agent and keep the top pick but I wouldn't complain about getting the best Big in the game right now (Anthony Davis had injury trouble once again last year).

If we got the 6th pick with Cousins, than that's something that I'd consider, but I'm iffy about giving up Randle with the 2 pick for only Cousins however. Then again, if we land Cousins, we become players in Free agency for years to come. This is gonna get real interesting...

Besides, if Cousins does become a Lakers player, he and Kobe are not going to get along. This may very well be Howard-Kobe II along those lines. I wish these people would not over-think this but it looks as though someone in the Lakers FO has a major stiffy for Cousins.

Somebody in the Lakers FO has a major stiffy for Cousins and my guess is it is Jim Buss. Cousins emerged rather quickly. With all of the big men out there rumored to be heading in the Lakers direction like Monroe, DeAndre Jordon, and Gasol, why this guy? This is the way Jim Buss operates. He gets a wild hair up his ass and then just goes ape nuts to get it done when there are so many other available options that can be way more productive. This knee-jerk approach ends up with a frikin mess. We watched this before with Nash and Howard and I am not liking how this is developing especially if Randle is included.

Also, the Lakers are not guaranteed Towns is going to Minnesota. I believe the Lakers are not sold on Okafor but who is to say that Minnesota is absolutely taking Towns with two days left before the draft?

And what happened to Sacramento's demand of more veteran players? I think this is about Sacramento getting both Orlando's center and Randle and they are going to do the same thing the Lakers were going to do with Cousins and Randle.

I don't get the love affair with Cousins at all. He's been in the league five years now, and he's never elevated the level of the Kings' play. That team hasn't improved beyond 29 wins with him.

If the Lakers aren't sold on Okafor, then take Russell or Porzingis. I want no part of Cousins anymore.

I'm sorry, but if we're getting the 6th pick as well, this is a deal that you MUST consider. Demarcus Cousins is argubaly the best Center in the game(Ant Davis is more of a four). At 24 years old, I would take him over Gasol and anybody else in free agency. He's a 24 and 12 guy, and he's a defender on top of it. I'm not saying I'm totally on board yet, but if we're getting the 6th pick as well, this is not mortgaging the future like we did with Nash and Dwight. Not only is Cousins under contract for 3 more years at 14,15, and 16 million dollars(which is an absolute steal in this upcoming salary cap), we would ALSO be possibly getting Justice Winslow. This is something to consider

Well, Kold, the Magic have officially left the discussion as of today because they believe they are not getting an equitable shake. So this is why Randle is now in the deal. Cousins may be all the things you have stated but the more imposing factor is the reason Karl wants him gone.

Cousins is not exactly a team player and that alone will be in play with Kobe even though Kobe is only going to be around a year. If the Lakers are just going to live with the inevitable friction that is going to occur with Kobe for a year as part of growing pains than it may work but it could also blow-up in their face similar to Howard and Kobe I.

I feel sick right now.

this trade really makes no sense as far as building a team for the future.

adding Cousins by subtracting Randle does what? creates a hole at PF. then what? they do something stupid by taking the Euro player that isn't even ready to play in the NBA yet?

the #2 pick was a no brainer to everyone except Buss apparently. this is why you don't hand the keys to a Ferrari to someone who has never driven before. Buss is not a basketball guy, but he thinks that he is and decisions like this get made.

how in the world is the rest of the organization okay with this?

Cousins may have been DECENT with the Kings, but his production is not going to be the same on the Lakers because he won't be option #1 like he is there. and his shooting is limited which means in order to be effective, he needs to be down low which clogs the lane for Kobe and Clarkson.

better to have a big that can hit the 15 footer like Okafor can ( and Towns which is why Minny has told him he will go #1 ) to open space up to run the offense more effectively.

George Karl wants Boogie out of there, but the owner wants to keep him. The article does go on to say that the Kings want some proven, veteran players for the number 6 pick. This story is gonna get real interesting

The Lakers have some veteran players who have proven to not be very good. Does that count?

:agree::lol: One of the factors that contributed to the Magic hanging up the phone and leaving the discussions.

We're talking about arguably the best center in the game who is young enough to be a franchise cornerstone for the next 10 years vs. a 36 year old who has missed almost the entire past 2 seasons with injuries and is almost certain to retire after the season.

All due respect to Kobe, but his feelings and whether or not he can get along with him should be the last of the Lakers concerns.

Decent?!? He's one of the 3 best centers in the league.
