Yes he can. And Lewerke could pass 4000 yards and runs for 1500. Why shouldn’t I believe he can do that? That’s not homery at all, right?
Contending for the Heisman and throwing for 4000/running for 1500 aren't the same thing. Also, Haskins is simply a better talent than Lewerke.

He also did a number in the Rose Bowl on the guy’s team who has him at #9 and lit up Wisconsin in the conference championship game. The kid’s a gamer and a winner and he’s done it behind a mediocre offensive line. He’s my #1. When lights are shining on the big stage and everything’s on the line give me McSorley over any other 2018 quarterback.

When the game was on the line McSorley just threw it up for grabs countless times hoping his receiver was better than the DB. No timing patterns , no thrown a receiver open , no throwing it through windows , just heaving it and hoping . That's not going to convince me he's that good.

You said that Urban is going to take the ball out of his hands and give the ball to the RBs more. You said you expect him to put up similar numbers to Barrett last year. Barrett wasn’t exactly on the radar for Heisman last year. Am I wrong? So Haskins will be a player in the Heisman race putting up pedestrian numbers? You are on Maize and Blue or Trustme level of homerism.

He's going to take a step back this year. I'm not sure he's even going to be the 3rd best QB in his division. Their personnel losses on offense were massive all around.

We've seen guys come out of the blue and not just contend for, but win the Heisman in their first year as the starter. Seems to happen pretty often, actually.

When Urban recruited Haskins, he called him the best passer he's ever recruited.

He's entering his 3rd year with the program, and he has a ton of weapons at his disposal.

You've seen what he can do, and that was thrust into the second half of arguably the biggest rivalry game in the nation down by 2 scores and he rallied them to win on the road, and against a really, really good defense at that.

What's the reason not to have confidence in him becoming a really, really good player? What reason is there to believe he won't?
Whats up with Tate Martell? Is he ever gonna play?

Barrett's numbers were anything but pedestrian, that's just ignorant. He also was in the top 3-5 among Heisman contenders until the Iowa game. This opinion was held by quite a few different publications. There was a point where he had an absurd 25-1 TD/INT ratio last year. Then he shit down his leg the final few games of the season and fell out of it.

If Haskins is the QB of a top 2-3 ranked Ohio State team (which I feel he will be) and winds up with 47 total TDs like Barrett did last year, yeah he's going to be in the Heisman discussion.

I think 2019 is gonna be his time. I could see Haskins possibly having a big year and going pro. If so, it'll be Martell's ship I think. If not, it might be 2020 before we see him take over.

I hate to say it, but he's a guy that could transfer, a la Joe Burrow. The 2018 QB they brought in is good, not great, but they have a 4* kid coming in 2019 and a high 4* kid in 2020, so it's just hard to say.

So he looked good against the cupcakes and then shit himself when he had to play better teams? So he’s Denard Robinson?

Invalid list without Patterson....the clear Heisman front-runner.

2020? That's four years after he committed to Ohio State. At some point I think he's gonna start looking elsewhere.

@7Samurai13 Oddly enough, that quote was made in jest. That said, I don't see how it's being a homer to say he's at least going to be a Heisman contender.
That's a pretty darn homerish statement. You're basically saying, that worst case scenario your first year starting QB will be that he's a Heisman contender....cmon man.

Nope, he was amazing against Penn State and played fairly well against Michigan State in a short day. He's also had plenty of amazing games in his career against big-time opponents - you remember 2014 in East Lansing, don't you?

Yeah that's the unfortunate reality. Urban has ramped up QB recruiting to levels OSU has never had. Who knows? Haskins could get hurt and Martell could step in and look amazing. Right now, unless that happens, he'll be on the bench though. He will play some sub-package plays this year, I'm sure, but not likely anything super meaningful.

And I remember that awesome day he had in 2015. He looked unstoppable against a 3-9 Michigan State, too. Michigan State wasn’t a good team last year, horrible offense and mediocre defense.

Right, it's not like Urban had had QBs come out of the blue at OSU at look amazing and have immediate amazing accomplishments or anything.

I'm not sure if you remember but I was never really sold on him. I was glad USC didn't get him.

Barrett looked good early and got progressively worse every year he was at OSU. He wasn’t great last year, sorry to burst your bubble. To assume that a guy that you have seen one half of live football with will be a Heisman contender is homerism. But you do you SCARLETandGAY09

I don't disagree, Barrett regressed after his first year. I also never said he was great last year. Did you know there's an area between "pedestrian" and "great"? I'm assuming not based on your comments. Urban has proven the ability to bring his QBs along and have amazing success with them early on at Ohio State. Why would I think the best passer he's ever recruited wouldn't be the same?

And what's that last sentence mean?
