Earliest he comes back in my estimation is ASB next year.

While an arm injury is clearly the worst for a pitcher, a leg injury has to really delay the rehab process. How can you build arm strength with out a solid base to push off ans support you?

Angels looking for starters anyway now will certainly be looking for some this off season. Tough free agency.

I believe it's the tendon which holds the kneecap in place. \

And you're right, that's bad.

That happened to Ryan Williams awhile back. He is in camp with the Cowboys. He said when the trainers first looked at his leg right after the injury they said "where is his knee cap?" They had to cut his pants open to find the knee cap up on his thigh muscle.

That's awesome. I hate the Royals, so I am gonna hate getting beat by them this weekend. Go Rockies go!

I'm actually a Royals fan. Spent a couple of years in KC, and really enjoyed the city/food, etc. And they actually had good baseball while I was there.

Get this: Busby was pitching for them while I was in town. hahahaha

This sounds realistic to me. Nasty injury for any player.

You have any recollection of other pitchers who have had this problem? If so, how'd they do coming back?

Everybody is always looking for starting pitching. This is why, in our case more than most other franchises, that we cultivate our own.

Going into the off season right now, here's who I see as a given for next season: Darvish/Holland.

And here's who I see as vying for a spot: Martinez, Ross, Scheppers, Mikolas, Tepesch, Lewis.

Am I missing anyone?

So is the thinking Profar at 3B, Odor at 2B, and Gallo in RF eventually?

Seems reasonable to me.

I'm still a little on the fence about Gallo though.

I sure hope they have given up on Scheppers starting. Tepesch and Martinez have come out of nowhere to win spots the past two seasons so I wonder who that could possibly be next year? Asher?

What about Chi Chi? They finally extended him to over 100 pitches his last time out.

I believe I read today that they are seriously considering making Bonilla a starter.

That's what I see down the road

A year after Gallo you might start seeing the likes of Brinson and Williams pop up, maybe even Mazara

Then there's always potentially Choice in the convo

There's always Robbie Ross as well

Bonilla isn't very good though, I see him as a non-factor

If Luke Jackson gets his head right down the stretch and has a solid ST, he could be in the convo, but that's a long shot,

But agreed about Chi Chi potentially, but I would put his odds behind Jackson's

Then Jake Thompson even further back than that

But I definitely see LuJax, Chi Chi & JT at AAA at some point next year & probably Asher too, but I don't see much upside with him, but I've been surprised before, maybe an innings eater type

Opening Day 2017

C Alfaro
1B ?????
2B Odor
3B Profar
SS Elvis
LF Williams
RF Gallo
CF Brinson
DH Mazara

SP Darvish
SP Martin
SP Holland
SP Gonzalez
SP Thompson, Jackson, or Ortiz

Maybe that void at 1B will be someone they trade for this coming offseason or at the next deadline. I think Prince will be gone or on the bench by then.

I doubt we will see that many youngsters in the line-up.

Jackson's long string of ineffectiveness scares me. I am afraid he might be hurt and is taking the anti-Darvish approach to his health. Hopefully he isn't, but I always start to wonder when guys suddenly start to struggle that much.

Might see one of Gallo or Mazara at 1B at some point, the lesser of the 2 defenders, Gallo's IF experience might make him the better fit, kinda wastes Gallo's arm but Mazara's is good too

I think he's mostly speaking about the potential of seeing a lot of these guys being ready to step up, its 3 years away, no telling what happens, not to mention a lot of those guys are going to be 23-25 by that point

Gone where? Like gone in dead money?

And I think you're selling short some of the guys we have here now......Tep/Ross/Martinez/Mikolas.....Are you just ruling these guys out?

Youth sometimes is misspent on youth, if you know what I mean?
