God...Angels fans are such self absorbed assholes. They are whining so hard over the Richards injury claiming their franchise, which has a WS victory mind you, is "cursed." Apparently Kendrys Morales, Nick Adenhart, and now Richards means the Angels have nothing but bad luck....

The death of Nick Adenhart was a tragedy, but it sullies his memory to lump his death in with two injuries where people's lives are not threatened.

Agree 100% on that. That is definitely not apples to apples.

As far as Choice goes I am not that crazy about him making it on our big league roster. His fundamentals are so average. Not crazy about his arm, his defensive abilities and his swing. If he was one of our COF I just would feel like we have an average OF. I like the rest of you would love to be wrong here but I think many of us and me included wanted him to succeed so that the Gentry-Choice trade proved to be a good one. I hope we are able to see above average tools in the COF.

This quote from the Newberg Report this morning about what Ray Davis thinks of Ron Washington makes me more worried about this franchise than anything else.

" Co-Chairman Ray Davis told Jon Morosi (Fox Sports) a week ago that clubs called Texas about Beltre in July but to no avail, as “[w]e want him to retire a Ranger.” Davis also said Ron Washington “has done a great job” managing the club this year and he expects Wash to be back in 2015."

If ownership and the GM think Wash is a great manager how many other things will they be that wrong about?

Rangers left-hander Neal Cotts will not be traded, CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman reports (Twitter link). Cotts was recently claimed by an unknown club, giving the Rangers and this mystery team a 48.5-hour window to work out a trade. Since no deal was worked out and Texas isn’t letting the claiming team take Cotts for nothing, it would appear that the veteran reliever will spend the rest of the season in Arlington.

No deal, be interesting to see if they re-sign him now

What's he suppose to say right about now?

And the warts we all notice and complain about doesn't apply so much for this season anyway. Wash has done a terrific job of keeping the faith, getting most of the guys to play hard, and he's actually adapted to playing the youngsters. Not sure he had a choice on that, but still.

He's always gonna suck at game management. That's not debatable IMO.

Lastly, as far as Davis' quote is concerned, it's something like a vote of confidence in a lost season. Matters not.

I will take JD and Davis at their word until they prove I can't.

I do not buy the "they play harder for him argument". There is no proof that these players would not play just as hard for a lot of other managers. Yes, he has no choice but to play the youngsters. When he does have a choice he usually does a very poor job. He is a bad manager and has been for years. He cost us the WS in 2011 and anyone in management who thinks he is a good manager has to be considered a poor judge of a baseball manager. He is a terrible manager. Every time management keeps him around another year they prove to be a little bit more untrustworthy to make sound decisions.

I agree with ya about his managerial skill - strategy wise for sure - but disagree that he's not a good motivator. The players, almost to a man, have always stood behind Wash and given 100%; even after the coke problem. Had the players not done so then he wouldn't be here now. Which may not have been a good thing.

Unfortunately, he can't be fired this season just due to the circumstances. He's fair game, at least I hope so for next season.

FYI.....I don't know who the other half of the team on ESPN's noon to 3 PM is (Frido is the other) but man, he's the biggest fan of RW on planet earth. He honestly doesn't know squat about the game, and was making fun of the attendance for Ranger games last week. Check him out sometime; he'll make ya nuts.

On two unrelated Ranger notes:

Garrett Richards is down for 6-9 months.

Price got beat 1-0 today at Tampa, despite giving up one hit, and one unearned run.

Yeah, I know who you are talking about. Ian Fitzsimmons. He was making an idiotic rant towards Darvish today. Almost everyone in the local media loves Wash.

I am not saying Wash isn't a great motivator. I just think these guys would try just as hard for a number of other managers. Lately we have heard more and more complaints about players not giving it their all though so even Wash's one bright spot has dimmed somewhat. He is a player's manager and they love him because of it, but apparently they don't know what it takes to be a great manager either.

I will bet Chavez and Feliz are not to keen on Wash since he had completely opposite statements than they did about what happened with them in Game 6. In both situations either Wash or the player was lying and the common denominator was Wash.

I just don't see why it would be impossible to get a good if not great game manager who can also motivate the players. The longer this management sticks with Wash the less I feel comfortable about them running the team. The man has already cost us one WS so I don't know how much more he has to do.
