From Adam Morris:

The other nine players who have been informed by the team that they are not making the major league club, per Evan, are pitchers Adrian Houser, David Buchanan, JT Chargois, Matt Festa and Joe Barlow, catchers Tucker Barnhart and Chad Wallach, and infielders Nick Ahmed and Alan Trejo.

Also from Adam Morris:

These moves leave four players on minor league deals in camp — pitchers Patrick Murphy and Caleb Boushley, outfielder Kevin Pillar, and outfielder/infielder Sam Haggarty. Murphy doesn’t have an opt-out until July 1, so the Rangers could stash him in AAA without losing him. There are sixteen pitchers in the major league camp for thirteen spots currently, and fifteen position players for thirteen spots. The final two position player spots appear to come down to Evan Carter, Ezequiel Duran, Pillar, and Haggarty.

UPDATE — I realized after hitting publish that, given who is left in camp, this would seem to indicate that Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker will both start the season in the major league rotation.

Early in camp, Carter acknowledged that he deals with an autoimmune issue in his back that causes inflammation, but declined to reveal the name.

I hadn't heard that until I read this article.

If you do a little digging on “autoimmune issue in the back that causes inflammation”
It looks pretty scary.
I feel for the kid. It’s a damn shame too, because with his speed and defense and the way he can steal bases, he is an all star if he hits 260.
But it sounds like he has some pretty serious issues..
Dammit

From Jeff Wilson:

The bullpen could consist of Chris Martin, Luke Jackson, Jacob Webb, Robert Garcia, Hoby Milner, Dane Dunning and Patrick Murphy. Young said that rookie Marc Church is still competing for a roster spot, and the Rangers could turn to him if they decide they need only one long man or if they run into complications on the 40-man roster.

Murphy would require being added to the 40-man, as would center fielder Kevin Pillar, and there aren’t many spots to go around. The 40-man is full, and the Rangers don’t want to place Jose Corniell (Tommy John surgery) on the 60-day injured list and would like to avoid doing that with Bradford (elbow inflammation).

The Rangers could try to trade a 40-man player, like infielder Justin Foscue, rather than losing one to a waiver claim.

Here are the numbers for two left-handed hitters to start their career vs. left-handed pitchers.

4 for 39
3 for 37

The second set of numbers belongs to Evan Carter. The first set belongs to Rafael Palmeiro.

If Corniell goes on the 60-day DL it starts his major league clock. I didn't know that.

I am not sure if Bradford will be ready in 60 days and if that is the case put him on it.
Wouldn't mind Church on the roster.

I have stated that I am concerned about his back being healthy for the season.

Evan Carter looks like he was feeling pressure today even more than 2023 postseason
Out of sorts. Not even swinging at close pitches SMH

Big fan and think he has a big future but best to send to AAA to find his mojo

Leody truthers are spared once again
Congrats

Let him hit the LHP and quiet the naysayers but he does not look good yet against RHP which is his bread and butter

Just not quite ready

Cater career start appearing to resemble Profar with his early injuries and funny enough is a switch hitter better from the left side.

I suspect Carter just has not seen alot of LHP prior to being drafted and since

Let’s not close the book on him yet
Still not enough info on back injury
Autoimmune?

From Joel Sherman:

Sources: The Rangers have placed Dane Dunning on outright waivers. Any team can claim him and assume his $2.66M salary for 2025. If he is not claimed on waivers, Texas can outright him to the minors.

If you don't mind posting what you found it might lend some insight as to what the issue is and what the back surgery that he had was targeting

I'd be shocked if someone doesn't claim him. And I'm surprised that they did but I'm assuming they needed the payroll space to finish out the BP for this year...

I had issues with the link so copied this from web site. The term “rheumatologic disorder” is what came up on the Yale medical site

Overview

Most Americans will experience back pain at some point in their lives. While this type of pain can sometimes be temporary, it can also be caused by chronic spinal problems that can lead to disability and reduced quality of life.
These problems can be caused by wear and tear on the joints (degenerative disorders) or inflammation from an autoimmune response in the body (rheumatologic disorders).

  • Rheumatologic disorders. These occur when the body's immune system attacks its own joints, triggering painful and damaging inflammation, which can lead to the breakdown of bones and soft tissue. These types of spinal disorders are much less common. Rheumatoid arthritis, for example, only affects about 1.5 million adults.
