I am ok with Leiter but Rocket has an innings limit and I do not want to damage.
I thought Howswr and maybe Murphy were roster options
Rocker's limits can be pitched now and limited later just as easy as the opposite, though.

I just dislike the idea that a terrible veteran is better than a struggling young guy who has shown just a few m9nths ago that he can pitch in the big leagues. The idea that it is a mistake to let a young giy who isn't lights out in ST be given a roster spot, is a mistake, in and of itself.

Kyle Gibson would have been a much better option.

They signed him because they need an “innings eater “ and I’m guessing they are thinking his numbers aren’t as bad as they look because he didn’t have much defense to help him out. He isn’t going to be ready for almost a month so the younguns are going to get a chance to prove what they have or don’t have…

I am not sweating and yes- a ground ball pitcher needs a good infield behind him which he has not had.
Not much of a risk for the money and maybe they fix him like they have others
Did surprise me tho as I thought Howswr and Leiter would get the SP spots which may still happen. Guess LHP appeal

Surely nothing to go off deep end
We were not going to get Cease and if we did we would hat to give up a haul

I'm shocked he got signed. If I was a Ranger fan I'd just as soon kick the tires on Dallas Keuchel.

If he puts up the same kind of numbers as Gray has and pitches more innings than Gray usually does I think they'll be very happy with the deal. Better defense and different pitching coaches might make all the difference in the world, look what Eovaldi did for Yates last year...

His velocity and K rate went down.

It os just a disappointing signing because he has been so bad for so long. It seems they could have done better both in-house and via free agency.

From Evan Grant:

Gray did get a bit of relatively good news after seeing Scottsdale-based hand/wrist specialist Dr. Don Sheridan, who performed surgery on Josh Jung’s wrist last year. The fracture was clean enough that it did not warrant surgery, Young said. Still, with his wrist immobilized for six weeks, there will be strengthening to be done before he starts throwing again. Young said the Rangers had been prepared for Gray to perhaps miss as much as the first four months of the season, but are now more optimistic about a return sometime in June.

Yeah, he is just not any good any longer. Evan Grant made it sound like Corbin made some kind of turnaround lin the last half of last year, but he still threw several clunkers in that time.

Add Adam Morris to the list of fans who just do not understand the Rangers signing Cirbin, at all. Morris is usually one who looks for excuses to make in almost everything management does.

From Evan Grant:

The innings are necessary. The results have been bad for a while, but Corbin has the 15th most innings in the game the last four years. They need somebody to soak it up

My response:

A lot of guys could pitch more innings if their team didn't care how bad their ERA was.
