I have a feeling we are going to go into the next offseason with the idea that the team has to find a place for Sebastian Walcott to play for the Rangers in 2026. I guess this season will determine which direction they will go in to find a place for him. I wonder if he will get any reps in the OF in the last couple of months of this season.

There were some guys who had down years last year. If one or more of them have another down year this season, Walcott could be considered to replace them.

Then there is Alejandro Osuna.
Has he played anywhere but shortstop in the minors.

Burger with a nice over the shoulder catch today, again. The radio guys were also impressed by a play at SS from Smith.

From Shawn McFarland:

The Rangers, indeed, plan to start Jacob deGrom at the "back end" of their rotation when the regular season begins.

"It’s just how it’s shaping up," Bruce Bochy said. "We decided to go ahead and give him the back end of the rotation.”

From Shawn McFarland:

Marc Church just struck out the side in a perfect eighth inning. He got the first two strikeouts with his slider and the third with his fastball.

His fastball ran 98 mph and his slider was 87-89. Nice inning.

From Shawn McFarland:

Nathan Eovaldi pitched four scoreless innings in today’s ’B’ game vs. the Royals. He gave up three hits, struck out four and threw 61 pitches in his longest outing of the spring.

I'm beginning to think he is overly likely to make the team out of camp. He's got closer stuff, it seems, too.

Adam Morris was mentioning the other day that he thought one o Milner or Armstrong would not make the team. I guess it would probably take something like that to give Church a shot.

Even if he does not make the club out of ST, he would most likely be the first guy to come up, should a need in the bullpen arise.

I have never seen a time when the Rangers had so much bullpen depth.

Sandler thinks Teodo will get the most saves for the Rangers this year.

Ahlstrom has looked good, as well.

Milner has not impressed me so far

Calling for Osuna to hit a double and make another good play in the field, today.

From Shawn McFarland:

Just noticing things: Alejandro Osuna has gotten the most at bats of any non-guaranteed major leaguer this spring. He’s starting in left field today.

Not surprising that they want to see what he's got, cause I really think they want to trade Leody to free up some money...

Oh BTW you can find all the Spring Training stats at the Baseball Reference website...
