For sure, man.
On paper that would be a rotation as good as the Rangers WS teams, wouldn't it? Or do you think that's pushing it?
Better, I think. The rotation now is probably as good as the 2010 team. Definitely better than that 2010 team prior to trading for Lee.

So I wonder how the search is going for MiLB pitching coaches for RR, Frisco, etc...etc???

Is this on the back burner while they are tracking down FAs to sign or have they given this task to Maddox :puzzled:

New York Mets, Texas Rangers Could Become Trade Partners

Fresh off their mega signing of Jacob deGrom to a five-year, $185 million, the Texas Rangers could become trade partners with the New York Mets.
According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Rangers could explore a trade for Mets catcher James McCann. As Olney notes, by trading McCann the Mets could shed some of the backstop's $24 million salary, in which he is owed across the next two seasons. McCann has caught 12 of deGrom's starts across 75.2 innings since joining the Mets.
The Mets signed McCann to a lucrative four-year, $40 million deal during the 2020-2021 offseason. At the time, McCann was considered to be the second best catcher available with J.T. Realmuto being a free agent at the same time.
The Mets added McCann coming off two stellar campaigns with the Chicago White Sox from 2020 to 2021. However, his tenure with New York has been a major disappointment. In 182 games for the Mets, the 32-year-old is batting .220 with a .610 OPS.
Now, McCann is expendable with the existence of steady backup Tomas Nido and top prospect sensation Francisco Alvarez banging at the door of playing everyday in the major leagues.
A deal between the Mets and Rangers could potentially be a win-win for both sides. McCann has not performed as a Met, so a change of scenery could work wonders for the veteran backstop, while the Mets would get some salary relief as well.

Ahh I think I’m finally done being entertained by Mets fans comments.
Before the signing of DeGrom
“He’s not going to Texas! That place is a dumpster”
After he signs
“Good! We didn’t want him anyway, the Rangers are stupid”
One comment really cracked me up “good luck pitching in 100+ degrees as he ages” They dont know we have an enclosed 72 degree stadium now?

Not sure if McCann has become Jacob's personal catcher after 12 starts but dont see the point in trading for a guy whom the article states hasn't performed

What do you guys believe are reasonable expectations from Perez next year? Think some regression is almost certain.
ERA around 3.40-3.50? WHIP around 1.350, FIP around 3.65.

I’ll say 4.10 ERA

Looked at DeGroms outings last year and they were basically split pretty evenly between McCann and Nido catching him. Didn't really notice that much of a difference in his performances between either of them so would say McCann can stay right where he is and let the Mets suffer with his contract... :thumb:

With deGrom,Odorizzi and Gray now on board, I think Perez will not be under the pressure as he was last year. He will be fine b/c he can pitch with ease. ERA 3.25-3.50
