That's bass ackwards of what I would have thought they would have done with his contract... (45/45/45/25/25)...

But I guess they have their reasons the CBT going up every year is probably one of them, loading up this year for a run is another and shedding some contracts in the future is another...

So now that they've shot a big load on DeGrom do they shoot another big load on someone like Rodon $30M or do they aim lower for someone like Senga $15M and another OF body like Bellinger???
I like Senga as much or better than Rodon.

Congrats Ranger fans, you got a terrific pitcher and a great clubhouse guy. Hate to see him go, wish him well and hope his injuries are all behind him
Thanks.

Yo the vitriol provides more motivational fuel for DeGrom and Rangers. They hate TX and dare I say Astros included. Our only point of alignment
Sad
Thing of it is they could end up being right and he ends up being a boat anchor... :noidea:

Let’s just hope they retain most of their best prospects and play it shrewd like they’re the rays or athletics when it comes to acquiring young talent and holding onto them and finding hidden gems. They can’t be afraid to do things like trade Adolis in a year or 2 for prospects 2-3 years away and promote our current prospects. Keep the cheap talent flowing. It’s imperative

Just curious, but why? Senga has yet to throw a single inning in MLB and is therefore unproven to some degree. Rodon has already proven he can be a dominant ace.

Not saying you’re wrong for feeling that way. Just curious why.

Looks like the Mets owe him some more money on down the road...

In looking at pitchers who have come over from Japan, and hitters as well, I have noticed that their stats in Japan can be adjusted to show approximately what can be expected of them over here.

Comparing his numbers in Japan to Darvish's and Ohtani's numbers in Japan, is what makes me like his chances over here.

That is why I wanted the Rangers to sign Mikolas a couple of years ago.

Colby Lewis is the guy who made me start thinking about it that way. That is why I wanted Darvish so badly before we signed him. Ohtani too.

The same thing made me not want them to sign Arihara.

I think Senga is going to be a really good pitcher over here.

Bob Nightingale thinks the Rangers will trade for James McCann just because he has caught deGrom 12 times. He says the Rangers are pursuing a catcher.

I think that is highly unlikely.

Mets fans are begging for that. Hard pass then.

Isn't Plawecki already in the Rangers sphere of influence, I thought that was one of the reasons why they grabbed him is because he had caught DeGrom before???

Right now, this is what I would expect our rotation members' ERAs to be this year.

2.90
3.80

Our old buddy, Kyle Gibson signs with the Orioles. A one year deal.

And that would make it one of the better rotations in baseball. Not elite, obviously, but good.
