What even would be the point then
The point is He does have MLB talent but is a head case so if we sign and he can prove in MILB I am fine with that

I am surely not suggesting we outbid someone for a MLB contract or pencil him I as a automatic starter

Otherwise no real big interest Saddles brought him up so I responded

Well, Jeff Wilson brought him up in the middle of some other things. Lol
Ha yes. But would you bring Gallo back under those very narrow circumstances?

I probably would, but he is going to get a major league deal somewhere.

I would add another stipulation to all of yours. I would tell him he has to be open to playing all the OF as well as 1B and 3B if needed. He has the makings of a super utility type guy if he could make it back to the big leagues. In other words, no Michael Young or Ian Kinsler type attitude. I guess we could include Semien in with Young and Kinsler too.

I don’t mind if they sign Gallo to a one year deal with options but after rule 5 and under the following conditions
He comes back and acknowledges that his approach has failed and will continue to fail regardless of shift ban. He will be open to fixing and will take a minor league assignment if needed. He is going to have to earn a starting job and it will not be given

If we get him that is fine due to his upside. It is like buying a lottery ticket

This is not to say I am optimistic he will change and certainly others are more deserving of a shot and every player should get playing time ultimately based upon productivity
I don’t understand when people think they can change Gallo. He has shown no interest in trying to change anything. I’m sure the Yankees and Dodgers tried to get him to make changes. We don’t need an outfielder that can’t hit .180. He’s nothing but a defensive replacement at this point.

You can easily be correct and are most likely

He has to make changes and really has penciled himself as a low average guy Take me or leave me type of guy.
Thx

He did seem to make a change about 15 months ago when we traded him.

Yeah for the worse unfortunately for him but ha not real change in his hitting approach

He need to shorten his swing and be better hitting to all fields and learn to have the swing longer in the zone especially with 2 strikes

He would get a good MLB contract if he just went back to hitting the way he did here.

Yeah probably but he will never reach the elite potential some like me thought could happen

Needed to get better than he was back then for my taste

apparently he cited wanting a "slower pace" as his reasoning. seeing comments that he might be stepping away from the game for a bit. but fingers crossed.

He lives around here so that would make for a slower pace in some respects maybe.

He lives about 22 miles from Globe Life Field.

I sold him a set of tires for his f150 back when he was the Rangers pitching coach.
