Am I misremembering things? I distinctly remember Feliz being a starter, and then getting hurt from that and basically ruining his career.
That was a year later, after they did go out and get his replacement. The year before is what I was referring to.

As far as his injury goes, that might have happened anyway. It is hard to say what caused that.

After plenty of discussion and evaluation over the last six weeks, the Texas Rangers said Thursday that Neftali Feliz will remain the team's closer in 2011.

"I think if we weren't in such a need for him as a closer, he would be starting for us this year," Rangers CEO Nolan Ryan told Galloway & Company on ESPN 103.3 FM in Dallas. "I think what it means is that we have a year to find somebody within our system or through trade or a free-agent acquisition to come in and take that role.

"At the end of [this season], we'd like to be in position to tell Feliz to go home this offseason and be ready to be a starter for us next year ... do what you need to do to come into spring training with that mindset and physically being in a position to take that."

Washington said Feliz has been one of the club's best starters this spring and he told him that he had showed he could start. It's likely something the team will revisit next year.

"Right now, for our organization, he's better in the bullpen," Washington said. "We haven't closed the door on him being a starter. It's just not now. We wanted to make sure that we continue to be strong in every area. With Feliz being at the closing end, we're certainly strong."

I’m hoping they leave Burke in the multi inning relief role. The bullpen already needs help as it is. Moore will possibly be leaving too.
Wouldn’t want to mess up a good thing.

I imagine Tepid will have to wait until 2024 to see Rocker pitch for Frisco on Opening Day.

After what happened with Leiter in Frisco, and with Rocker being behind where Leiter was, I doubt Rocker sees Frisco until 2024.

They could put Gray and maybe Perez out in the pen if a bullpen pitcher is more valuable. They might make a great set up/closer duo.

Levi Weaver mentioned Matheny and Mattingly as manager possibilities, among others already discussed on here.

I wonder if Maddon could help us land Ohtani.
Not really interested otherwise

Will say this. Great starting pitching helps mitigate substandard pen to some degree
Still need a closer and another late innings guy

I have always liked Maddon. He would be my first choice.

Lol, we have Gray for set up guy. Now we just need Perez as closer.

I think adequate starting pitching helps mitigate a substandard pen and great starting pitching does it substantially..

In looking back at our bullpens from 1997 to 2011 I noticed that the better the team was, the less number of games that a guy had to pitch more than one inning in games. Mahomes and Whiteside did a lot of that in some down years. Others did as well, to a certain extent, in our bad years.

pretty sure every available name is going to be thrown out there.

much like the draft, i really don't have a lot of patience for "who will the Rangers sign?" talking heads making a lot of money coming up with guesses that are usually worse that what us freelancers do here.
