I would say the risk is fairly minimal due to the 2 years. Bennie was right that 4 years would have been too big of a commitment and potentially blocked better arms. But there are ways out of a 2-year deal, and if you’re going to take a free agency flier, then one on someone with a higher upside is one you want to take.Hopefully you're right on him performance-wise, and he can stay relatively healthy.
The financial cost isn't too bad but the risk is big.
I’m just beyond sick of watching the Rangers trot out mediocre starter after starter with minimal talent over the last 5 years (with only a few notable exceptions).
