This FO is going all-in like never before.
40 now. I thought 40 before, but I guess not.We’re we at 39 or 49 please
subtle dig against the Rangers with the clearly intentional ordering of those teams
Notice, he puts the Rangers first in the Heaney market.
I don't want him. I would rather trust Ragans than him. He only went 6 innings twice last year. Mostly, 4 and 5 inning outings. He has had a lot of bad years.I wouldn’t mind Heaney.
He scrapped his sinker and pretty much goes with a fastball/Slider mix that seems to be helping other pitchers.
Only question I would have is health..
It seems like a lot of analytic depts are noticing some pitchers that have velocity and can be more effective by not throwing certain pitches.
If hitters waited for your change up and knew to swing under your sinkers they can get the advantage.
But if they can throw a mean slider and some gas and locate well it’s a lot harder to hit

Last year Perez pitched twice as many games and a whole lot more innings. Half way through 2022, I wasn't sold on Perez either. Those bad years were prior to revamping his pitch repertoire
Perez had a lot of bad years prior too
I believe lol

You aren't sold on Perez, but you are on Heaney.
It is a lot easier to put up good numbers in very small sample sizes. I want a pitcher who can make it past the 4th or 5th inning on a regular basis.I like Heaney bc he has velocity and a good slider and is now using that mix
1.08 whip is pretty nice
I am worried about his health tho
If it takes 4 years I don’t wanna do that
But if we can get him on 3 I’m ok
By the middle of 2023 we will have several young pitchers who would serve us better in the rotation than Heaney over the next couple of years. We have a couple now.I like Heaney bc he has velocity and a good slider and is now using that mix

You’re under-selling Heaney. He was injured for a lot of the year, which means the comparison to Perez isn’t a fair one. I know quite a bit about Heaney because he’s on my dynasty league fantasy team, and I watched almost every one of his starts last year.Last year Perez pitched twice as many games and a whole lot more innings. Half way through 2022, I wasn't sold on Perez either.
Perez made it through 6 innings 26 times. Heaney did so 2 times.
You aren't sold on Perez, but you are on Heaney.
Again, that’s purposely misleading. Heaney missed a huge chunk of last season.Total Quality Starts in 2022
Andrew Heaney -- 2
Glenn Otto --7
Dane Dunning -- 10
Him missing so much is a big factor. Besides Otto and Dunning also missed part of the season.Again, that’s purposely misleading. Heaney missed a huge chunk of last season.
The same could be said of any pitcher couldn't it? Even Perez, Dunning, and Otto. It could be said of any pitcher without the injury concerns as well. There are other pitchers to be had without those concerns.I would be very interested to see what Maddux could get out of him,
