I'm not sure why people are so dead set on getting rid of IKF when it comes down to it you can make him a utility man since he can/has played so many positions, which would help getting all the other players rest when they need some...

I'm ok with him being a UIF/bench

MLB Trade Rumors is doing a live chat. Here's the notable parts so far:

"how many top 10 FAs do you see signing before Dec 1?"

I can see Freddie Freeman, maybe, but generally I don't expect any to do that.

"How did none of you pick LAD to be the landing place for Kershaw? It seems unlikely he would leave."

Yeah, it's also possible that they're bearish on his health. But really, not making that QO -- paired with Friedman's comments about Kersh doing what's best for his family -- at least gave us the perception that maybe he wants to pitch literally 15-20 mins from his home in Texas. Perhaps that was wrong. We'll see. I certainly think the Dodgers are plausible.

"Why do you believe the rangers will be decent spenders this offseason?"

Because both their president of baseball operations and GM both flatly said they would. It's sort of the opposite direction the Cubs took, coming out and preaching "measured, intelligent" spending and whatnot.

He will be a free agent after rhe 2023 season and I am thinking he goes somewhere where he can start. If not, I would love to have him as a utility/bench guy.

He might be expensive for a bench guy once he goes to free agency though. I would like to trade him while he still has two years of control left and therefore more valuable to another team.

I have a couple of questions in, but don't know that they will get to them.

I am dead set against him starting 3B and to me he is a placeholder at 2B if we get a SS

A lot of opinions re this. Read where it is thought none of the higher tier FAs sign until after CBA signed
Then they make the new rules not take place until next offseason. Lol

Ranking and Predictions fo MLB's Top 50 Free Agents

6. Trevor Story, SS

Age: 29 | Current Team: Rockies | Best Fit: Rangers

Story’s player profile has a lot to like. He’s been durable, is at least a solid defender with good power and speed, and his strikeout rate has declined in each of the past two seasons to a career-low 23.4% in 2021. Story saw a steep decline in BABIP this year, with a .293 clip after a career mark of .347 before this year. That’s likely tied to a dip in line drives and uptick in ground balls, though his average exit velocity and barrel rate were mostly in line with his career marks. A mechanical adjustment could be the remedy there, and would likely elevate Story back to his All-Star form.

39. Jorge Soler, OF

Age: 30 | Current Team: Braves | Best Fit: Rangers

The 2021 World Series MVP has a wide range of future outcomes, but there are signs he could soon be one of the sport’s most feared sluggers. For one, he absolutely crushes the ball when he makes good contact, routinely ranking in the 98th percentile of max exit velocity and boasting MLB’s longest average home run distance (423 feet), a statistic no one will be surprised to learn after witnessing his World Series moonshot. His approach also showed signs of maturation this summer, as he struck out at a career-low 23.6% clip with a chase rate that ended up in the 80th percentile of the league. That’s solid growth from the '19 American League strikeouts leader. Soler best profiles as a mashing DH who doesn’t have to concern himself with improving his sloppy glovework.

You might be surprised how much some utility players make and how much they play

Story-6/$126=$21 a year (SS)
Suzuki 5/$55 =$11 a year (LF)
Matz 3/$27 = $9 a year (SP)
Yan Gomez 2/$10= $5 a year (C)
Baez 5/$100 = $20 a year (2B)
For $71 AAV this team could have some really solid pieces.

And only one, Story, was QO

Not to mention IKF, Trevino/Heim, Solak etc could net some prospects which we could use to try and get a RF/CF or net us a RF/CF.
Wondering if we will be involved in a 3 team trade this off-season.
