Chris Young joined Jeff Wilson on Wilson's podcast. This is what Wilson said about the conversation.

“Going back to all good teams I’ve been a part of — whether it was in high school, college, the minor leagues and into the professional ranks — there were certain similarities and traits that those teams exhibited, and that was a respect for each other, a respect for the game and playing the game the right way,” Young said.

“I’m a firm believer in that. It’s up to us to choose the right personnel that embody those traits but also to create the environment and expectation and to set a really high standard for everybody.”

Players don’t play in a vacuum. Not every player is a fits on every roster. Chemistry is real, Young said, and the Rangers are building toward it. It’s not just the players who played for them in 2021 who are part of the formula, but also players in the minor leagues have created it.

"I understand it’s hard for fans to understand that when we’ve lost 102 games, but nobody here was satisfied with the results and our players weren’t satisfied,” said Young, who was hired Dec. 4, 2020.

“To the contrary, I’ve been on other teams that were under .500 and there was a complacency. That’s the difference between good organizations and ones that really can’t climb out of these things.”

Young brings clubhouse and executive experience to the role of Rangers GM. No idea what results will be produced, but I like everything I've heard from and about him.

"The Rangers have seven players on the 60-day IL to reinstate and only six spots open on the 40-man. That will spell bad news for one players, who could be added to the growing list of free agents or be outrighted to the minor leagues." - Jeff Wilson

I would imagine there will be more than one player cut soon as the Rangers may want to add a player cut from another team. Then they will have to cut as they add free agents. Not too long from now, they will make about 6 more cuts to prepare for the Rule 5 draft.

Our 60 Day DL Guys

Cody
Leclerc
Hernandez
King
Snyder
Guzman
White

I am not sure White and King get added back. I would like to see King stay, but I am not sure the organization feels the same.

This is how the top of my reverse 40 man roster looked. Meaning, I would jettison players to make room on the 40 man, starting at the top of this list and work my way down.

Josh Sborz
Anderson Tejeda
Dennis Santana
Jharel Cotton
Spencer Patton
Spencer Howard
Eli White IL-60
DJ Peters
Drew Anderson
Curtis Terry
Jonah Heim

Technically all 7 guys from the 60 day DL can be added back now if they wanted to.

Which ones do you think are not put back on the roster?
Well thy might put all back as protocol/courtesy. May effect MLB service time but then White and Guzman are let go at a minimum

I think they should keep King but is a mystery how they almost lost him anyways

Wish we could have kept him. He might turn out good if he can stay healthy

I really wish they would trade Lowe and give Guzman another shot at 1B to see if those adjustments he made last winter will translate into him being a much better hitter. He should get the chance that they should have given him last year.

I am afraid they are going to let him go and he is going to become a very good player and maybe even a star.

Boy, everything would come full circle if that does happen. He could be the next Adrian Gonzalez for this organization.

About a year into JD's tenure as a GM, he traded away a potential star in Adrian Gonzalez. Daniels included Chris Young in that trade as well. Now, about a year into Chris Young's tenure he has a chance to do almost the exact same thing with Guzman. It could be deja vu all over again, as Yogi would say.

Agreed. I had 10 more guys on my reverse 40 list that I would have jettisoned ahead of him.

More on Suzuki from mlbtraderumors:

The most bullish opinions we’ve gotten peg Suzuki as an everyday Major League right fielder — a solid defensive player with a strong arm and enough power to hit in the middle of a big league lineup. In an August profile of Suzuki, Dylan Hernandez of the L.A. Times cited a scout who called him the “best player in Japan the past few years,” and I’ve heard that sentiment echoed myself in doing background work on Suzuki. Baseball America’s Matt Eddy puts a 70-grade on Suzuki’s raw power (on the 20-80 scale), and at least one evaluator I spoke to thought he could produce 25-plus home runs with a solid batting average and strong on-base percentage. Suzuki is a four-time NPB Gold Glove winner in right field, and the expectation is that he can play average or better defense in the big leagues, even if he’s not a Gold Glover in MLB.

There’s obviously a fair bit of risk when committing significant dollars to any international star, and skeptics could point to the recent struggles from Yoshi Tsutsugo and Shogo Akiyama in their own transitions to Major League Baseball. However, Tsutsugo was seen largely as a pure power bat with minimal defensive value and preexisting strikeout issues in Japan. Sports Info Solution’s Ted Baarda took a look just today at why Suzuki is considered a much better bet to succeed in the Majors than Tsutsugo was. Akiyama, meanwhile, was five years older than Suzuki is now when he jumped to the Majors, and he didn’t stack up in the power department. Suzuki is younger and more well-rounded than both Tsutsugo and Akiyama, and we expect interest on the free-agent market to reflect that.
