So awesome you got to go to a World Series game!
But yeah, that’s a tough one lol

Of the 6 the Rangers have played in Arlington, I've been fortunate enough to go to 3 of 'em. Looking forward to #4 at some point

Watching the game last night I found it odd that a team in the WS would play such sloppy ball. Atlanta looked very bad imo. Although it happens to teams through the year, you don't expect to see it on a stage this large.
Umm...Nelson Cruz.

If you could sign 3 free agents this off-season and make 2 trades what would you do?

I think that’s fair considering our blank slate, open payroll and depth/40 man crunch.

Especially being the Braves. They're known for their defense.

*'s were knocking the shit out of the ball from pitch 1, so I figured they'd take last night no matter what.

Now the Braves just need to take the next 3 and send the fans home happy.

Man, long term contracts kind of suck.
High probability the player doesn’t play at a level to justify the contract.

For Position players-

There were 125 players aged 22-30 with a WAR 1.5 or higher
Only 30 players with a WAR of 1.5 or higher aged 32 or older.
The majority of those players were on contract years or 1 year away too.

It was to be expected. Players are in their prime in those years.

Just hate looking back at some of these contracts like Pujols, Choo, Fielder etc

Is there any fixing this? Lol
Paying for what they used to do

Good points made. I agree that paying a player for what he use to be is crazy.

I wonder if we will ever start seeing contracts where they pay them less each year.
With Correa being a 7 WAR player and only 27 I could understand a contract where you pay him high up front and then step it down. I get carrying it deep into his 30s as well. It’s a premium you have to pay on the market.

I would be ok with a Correa contract looking like
27-$38 mil
28-$38 mil
29-$38 mil
30-$38 mil
31-$38 mil
32-$33 mil
33-$30 mil
34-$25 mil
35-$20 mil
36-$17 mil
37-$17 mil
38-$15 mil or $7 mil buyout

You have to be smart enough to not sign the wrong guys. You also have to realize that the last part of the contract will never be worth it. That much is a given.

In this game you have to pay them for what they used to do because you get to under pay them for what they are currently doing, early in their careers.

Did you expect it? Of course not. That is my point.
Knowing Cruz's history in the outfield, it might not should have been expected, but it certainly should have been prevented since it was a real possibility. That is why Wash originally planned for Chavez to play in place of Cruz. Even Wash knew it was a real possibility.

Here is a dream scenario that would never work out, but it made me smile to think about.

In trade talks with the Yankees this offseason we get close to a deal with them. Then they tell us they will do the seal if we agree to also take Gallo off of their hands for a lower tier prospect or two. Then Gallo proceeds to have a very good first half. We trade him again next July to the Red Sox for another really good prospect or two. Joey has great games for the Red Sox down the stretch against the Yankees and helps knock them out of the playoffs.
this really surprises me

I probably wouldn't sign 3 free agents. Any trade I would be interested in would be to acquire more minor league talent.

I would go hard after Schwarber, Seager and Story.
I would trade the depth for more pitching.
There’s a lot more dominant hitters aged 30-34 than there is dominant pitching in that age group.
I’d rather develop our own pitching and sign high caliber “young” hitters that should perform well during the bulk of their contract over the next 6-9 years.

More tools but seems like he did not perform much better than IKF. Not interested
